Bobby Darin – A Man In A Hurry

Fridays 2:00 PM

Sir Tim Rice presents the story of actor and musician Bobby Darin, who died 35 years ago on 20 December, 1973.

A multi-talented, versatile performer and composer, Bobby Darin bestrode the music scene from rock 'n' roll, folk and country to big band and the America Popular Songbook.

Never has a performer made so many successful career turns in such a short, brilliant career. Darin was even seen as a serious rival to Frank Sinatra for a short time.

The series will feature many brand new interviews with a host of personalities, including Steve Blauner (Bobby Darin’s manager of many years), Jimmy Scalia (the official Bobby Darin archivist) and Teri Koenig (Darin’s sister-in-law and "valet").

In Dreams: The Roy Orbison Story

Mondays 6:30 PM

To mark the 20th anniversary of Roy Orbison’s death, Mark Lamarr presents a new four part documentary, telling the story of the Grammy-award winning singer/songwriter, guitarist and pioneer of rock ‘n’ roll.

Roy Orbison’s career spanned more than four decades, but his personal life suffered great heartache.

The series includes contributions from David Lynch, Don McLean, Barbara Orbison, Joe Melson (the man credited with creating the Orbison sound and co-writer of Only The Lonely), Bill Dees (who co-wrote Oh Pretty Woman), band member Bob Moore and many more.
