as you probable know tonight of as some would like to called it Tonight/Early Morning is the last show of Liz Copeland on WDET-FM as the station move to be listen by no one as the station still think the news adduced is more important that the music fans that fill this great city.

i got to tell you the first time i listen to her was back in 1996 or 1997 i was listen to Ralph Valdez at 10 P.M. on some Monday Night Long Before i even have a blog i have my foot in the door of the indie music scene, if was a few months before i decide to go out on the town.

I was listen to the show because back then the poetry scene was center around the city of Hamtramck where the Scene had Explode with the monthly poetry reading at the RoadRunner Raft, which was highlight by the Monthly poetry slam and every Monday Night on his show he would have a poet on the show, i stay tuned on that show.

But i like all of you forgot to turn off my radio and i listen to the next prison on the station and that person have and nice spunky voice and very cool and sweet.

I met person back in 1998 or 99 after see her as a red head in HOUR Detroit in a good profile for the magazine [OK, it not red, but i look that way] I met here at a art festival at the planet Ant theater in Hamtramck and got to meet her and talk to here and she was a good talker about music and what is going on in Detroit.

I have talk her a lot over these last 10 years that i know here, i talk to her
about everything from new music to what is going to play on the weekly album spotlight feather to to life in the City.

I got to tell you, i was mot the only one Liz have enjoy a cult Following for years as one of the best DJ in all of metro detroit as she been name on the best host on radio by the Metrotimes, the Detroit News, The Free Press, and Real Detroit Weekly.

Her Absent from the Detroit airwaves will be greatly Affect as there is No good Detroit radio station left Expect for C-jam.

And for those of you who will say some things like Liz is Boring, or Liz is not nice or she deserve to get Ax, Let me say one thing.

Liz is one of the most nicest, most Coolest person you ever want to meet and she have gave up many gig nights of a lot of good show to played what is new and Fresh and sound cool to get the people like my stuff who is sick and tried of the same old crap the we are Begin force feed almost every thinking that we are Mikey and say we we like it but to tell you the truth it suck.

She Played what the people what to heard in Detroit Rock, she like the music and what to she it to the people and she will bounce back for this 12 year ride.

So i want to say to Liz and her husband Clark Kellog and the Other D.J. who got let now and yesterday Ralph Valdez, Chuck Horn, Mick Collins, W. Art Brut: 'It's a Bit Complicated'

Art Brut have announced the release of It's a Bit Complicated, the band's second outing and follow up to their critically acclaimed debut record Bang Bang Rock & Roll, arriving June 26 on the Downtown imprint, Pitchfork reports. While their debut record tackled subject matter such as little brothers, forming bands, and unsatisfactory weekends, It's a Bit Complicated's song titles -- including "Nag Nag Nag Nag", "Direct Hit", "Pump Up the Volume", "I Will Survive", "People in Love", "Sunday Evening", and "Post Soothing Out" -- hint at fresh perspective, hopefully with frontman Eddie Argos' sheer wit intact. Argos, having confessed to Pitchfork that It's a Bit Complicated will feature horns, also mentioned that the new album has him sounding "a little bit older. Even though I'm 27, I'd say I'm about 17 in the songs."

Tegan and Sara Ready 'The Con'

Canadian-born twins Tegan and Sara will release The Con, the follow up to 2004's critically acclaimed So Jealous, July 24 via Vapor/Sanctuary. The new album, co-produced by the twins and Death Cab for Cutie's musical renaissance man Chris Walla in Walla's Portland, OR recording studio, also features another Death Cab drummer Jason McGerr and four-string rhythms from AFI bassist Hunter Burgan and Rentals frontman (and ex-Weezer bassist) Matt Sharp.

Although complete details are yet-to-be confirmed, Tegan and Sara will hit the road this summer in support of The Con, playing a string of intimate performances in small venues during the month of July and August before a launching a tour of theatres nationwide in October.

The Con tracklisting:

1. "I Was Married"
2. "Relief Next to Me"
3. "The Con"
4. "Knife Going In"
5. "Are You Ten Years Ago"
6. "Back In Your Head"
7. "Hop A Plane"
8. "Soil, Soil"

White Stripes Offer Puzzling Tune Script

With a mind boggling website post, it seems the White Stripes are attempting to morph a population of rockers into well-studied semantics scholars. As previously reported, Jack and Meg White have leaked details, including a complete tracklisting, for their forthcoming album Icky Thump to the band's official site, and now, mysterious and baffling descriptions, or haikus if you will, have popped up alongside the song titles. In addition, a giant crossword type word puzzle reigns atop the webpage, possibly as a key to deciphering the covert meaning of Icky Thumb, or possibly as the focus of an elaborate prank.

The perplexing post reads:

1. "Icky Thump" -- Well, you can't be a pimp and a prostitute too.
2. "You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told)" -- In some respects I suspect you've got a respectable side.
3. "300 M.P.H Torrential Outpour Blues" -- Sooner or later the ground's gonna be holding all of my ashes too.
4. "Conquest" -- The hunted became the huntress, the hunter became the prey.
5. "Bone Broken" -- They got a white pony in a stable and ride him when the doggie isn't able.
6. "Prickly Thorn, But Sweetly Worn" -- The silver birches pierce through an icy fog, which covers the ground most daily.
7. "St. Andrew (This Battle Is In The Air)" -- I'm looking upwards, who is here to greet me?
8. "Little Cream Soda" -- Well, every highway that I go down seems to be longer than the last one that I knew about, oh well.
9. "Rag And Bone" -- Bring out your junk and we'll give it a home.
10. "I'm Slowly Turning Into You" -- I dig your little laugh and I'm loving your quick wit.
11. "A Martyr For My Love For You" -- Maybe these ruby shoes are a little cumbersome for you.
12. "Catch Hell Blues" -- If you're looking for hot water, don't be shocked when you get burned a little bit.
13. "Effect And Cause" -- First you cause a train wreck, then you put me in traction?

Stolen Gear Atler

we have a local band who lost it bass gitar

From Desolation Angels' bass player...

Keep your eyes and ears open.

I lost my bass on Saturday Night at the Double O pub in Redford.

it's a Ernie Ball Musicman Sting Ray.
the serial number is E86484
It has huge stickers on it reading KCA 89
It has 3 ford Emblems on it.

It was in a musicman hardshell case. I had to rush out of the bar for a small emergency. I left the bass by the doorway outside.

Now it is gone.
Please ask everyone and anyone associated with the bands
Hoppin' Mad, The Arrogant Bastards, or CL1 (from toledo)
and their fans if they know anything.
Hell, i'll reward whoever brings it back to me, or sends it to me.
I just want it back.

Please call 248 982 4528 as soon as possible.

Repost this, and help me out. Please.

Letter From Liz

My dear friends,

As many of you know, Alternate Take will end its run on WDET on Friday night/Saturday morning, March 31st. WDET has shifted its programming emphasis to primarily news and information.

I have so far received an astonishing number of heart-wrenching messages regarding this change. I would like to thank you for your support and kindness. You must know this: WDET could not have sustained this radio program without you – whether if it was by spreading the word, giving feedback or insight, sending music, volunteering or by giving a dollar.

In the final days of Alternate Take on WDET, I would like to celebrate what has been nearly 12 years of adventurous radio programming in a unique venue. This will involve one final album spotlight, a final FOCUS, special guests – and, of course, a whole lot of gratitude. I invite you to join me, either in real time or OnDemand. The ability in professional radio to celebrate these last days and to properly thank those that have made this possible is a rare occasion indeed. Those final nights run all this week (Monday through Friday evenings AKA Tuesday through Saturday mornings), concluding on Friday night/Saturday morning, March 31st. I also invite you to join my friends Chuck Horn (Seventh Journey), Mick Collins (Night Train), W. Kim Heron and Ralph Valdez as they sign off of the WDET airwaves one last time.

As a good friend and radio veteran has told me, when one door closes, another opens. For 12 years (a lifetime in radio), I have been determined enough to continue to be energized by radio in the wee hours. I have learned much, yet feel as if I’ve just begun. As I investigate new methods of connecting the music with its fans in a relevant fashion, I am optimistic that its reach could have more of an impact than ever before. I will keep you updated on developments through this website and its mailing list [please sign up if you haven't yet].

I am grateful that we have been a part of this together. Now, let’s look to the future.

Thank you for being out there.
