Radio Fever. Done.... For Now

Tonight at the New Dodge Lounge at the SSM Show.
I saw Dave Buick, The Co-Host Of Radio Fever as he told me the bad news that WKRK-FM (97.1) have cancelled the the three Hour Saturday night local rocks show after almost three years on the air.

Dave told me that the show was begin cancelled because was he told me that the station ran out of Monday to play the two host for a Saturday night rock show witch next to weeknights no body listen to the radio on the weekend.

The big boom came down in a conference call to the two hosted (Greg Sizeman and Dave Buick) on Friday, And they was told that last Saturday show was there last show ever, so there will be no farewell show on Saturday night.

this change in Saturday Night Programing is Begin made at the station as there under going a change of management at the station as Rich Homberg step down as general manager of WKRK-FM and WXYT-AM(1270) to focus full time on running WWJ-AM (950), both station have been is near the bottom of the top 20 radio station even with the boost from tigers baseball XYT rank 18th in the Arbitrend Summer 2006 book (that cover June, July and August of all listener 12 and up) with a 2.0.

WKRK-FM which have been slugging since Howard Stern left FM for sattle radio is at the bottom of the top 20 with 1.8.

Radio Fever first hit the airwaves on live 97.1 in 2004 with hosted Greg Sizedman and Former Metro times music writer Christ Handyside, The show did played a lot of local music and there was a lot of fun talk in between song and almost ever song was local Detroit music.

The show have a lot of guest from Ben Blackwell, to Wendy Case, to Dan and Tresa Mae Miller from Balance, and a note from this editor, I the writer of this blog site also called in the middle of the show (Pre-blog) to give you with was down in local music.

Handyside Left the Show in the Summer of 2005 to fouced on a family and was replace by member of the go, and record stored owner at the time (Young Sole Rebels), and Husband of Fonda's lead Singers Julie Benjamin.

So what is going will be the show to replace Radio Fever in Detroit well for local music there is Riff 2 Detroit Local 101 they played a lot of local music and it co-host by a local musican, the show is aried on WRIF-FM HD-2 on DIgial radio or you can listen to the show on there Web sight at www.riff2.com, or there a listen party at small bar in Hamtramck ever tuesday from 10 PM to Midnight.

But there some jaming alturnativa, Like Cowboys and Indie which played the best UK and indie music wihich aired every saturday at 9:30 to midnight on CJAM-FM (91.5) or at www.cjam.fm

or there is the Five hours mega show called CBC Radio 3 which highlite the best in cananid music every saturday from 7 PM to midnight at CBC RADIO Two (89.9) or www.cbc.ca/radio and Click on Listen live on Radio Two.

But this maty not be the end for Radio Fever Dave Bucik told me that there thinking of going to other station to aired the show in the Near Furture, Hopfully soon.

It Came From The Late Night Music Club From Culture City With Jenny Lewis and the Waston Twins

Tommorrow Night At St. Andrews Hall in Downtown Derroit

From Wikipedia:

In 2004, Conor Oberst invited Lewis to record a solo record for record label Team Love. Described by Lewis as "a kind of soul record," Rabbit Fur Coat, released in January 2006, features contributions from musicians Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes, M. Ward, Maroon 5 guitarist James Valentine, and Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie on a cover of The Traveling Wilburys song "Handle With Care". The Watson Twins provide accompaniment and the album is billed as Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins. Lewis toured with the Watson Twins in support of the album in early 2006.

Infamous for her quirky clothing and red hairstyle, Lewis has become a fashion icon in the indie music world

Bearking Culture (or could i say Sports) City News

From Major Leagued Baseball
By the Associated Press

NEW YORK -- Wednesday night's American League Division Series Game 2 between the Yankees and Tigers was postponed due to inclement weather, as heavy rain blanketed Yankee Stadium.

The game will be made up on Thursday at 1:09 p.m. ET.

The game was actually delayed before the rain began falling, as a weather system was expected to hit the Bronx around 8:30 p.m.

The tarp was placed on the field at approximately 8:15 p.m. Both teams had been informed of the potential delay and told not to allow starting pitchers Mike Mussina and Justin Verlander to warm up.

After roughly 80 minutes, the grounds crew removed the tarp from the field and began preparing the field for the game, which was set to start around 10 p.m.

But at 9:56 p.m., the grounds crew put the tarp back on the field, as the game was called due to weather concerns.

And yes the Tigers still trail 1-0

Tonight danced and there background

Paso Doble

The Paso Doble on the competition floor should create a Spanish Bull Fighting atmosphere. The Paso Doble is the dance for the Man, which allows him to fill the "Space" with strong three-dimensional shapes and movements danced with "Pride and Dignity."

The woman's role varies depending on the intepretation of the dance. The woman can take the role of the matador's cape, the bull or even the matador at different times within the dance.

Characteristics of the Paso Doble are the "Marching" flavor given to the steps and the cape movements creating the required tension between both dancers.
It is one of the only dances that is danced only in the ballroom world.
It is one of the most dramatic of the dances.

Moves to Watch in the Bullfight of the dance:

Look out for chassez cape - the man using the woman as the cape to bring her around.
Apel - this is when the man stamps his foot - this should be very strong. The man would stamp his foot as if he was trying to attract the bull's attention (the bull often gets distracted by the crowd in a bull fight).

There are strong Flamenco influences in the dance where the use of castanets is simulated.

The arpel is a commencement of a movement with the stamping of the feet where the man and woman walk in separate directions.

And The Waltz

Considered the mother of present day dances, the Waltz began in southern Germany in the 17th century. The popularity of the Waltz dance grew with the music of Johann Strauss and eventually blossomed in the 20th century. It is the basis for many dances and is popular today all over the world.

The basic components of Waltz are walking steps and side steps. "Rise and Fall" and "Body Sway" are some of the styling characteristics which make the simplest Waltz steps and patterns elegant and beautiful.

A sentimental and romantic dance, it is characterized by soft and round movements and its swing and flow. ***

The Moves to look for in the Waltz:

An action that must be visible at any competition level is the Waltz Pendulum action, an action comparable with the movement of a bell clapper. The Waltz must contain the right level of up-and-down swing in balance with the required spatial movement.

As in all dances, dancing from the supporting foot is essential. The "moment when" to start rising from your supporting foot is crucial in the Waltz.

There should be lots of rotation.(that meaning you turn me right around baby right round like a record baby right, right round round)

*** American Smooth Style:

On Dancing with the Stars the couples will be dancing an "American Smooth"-style Waltz. The American Smooth style means couples can break the traditional ballroom "hold" throughout the performance allowing more open movements, including under-arm turns. Think Fred and Ginger.

The Show aired tonight at 8-9:30 PM on ABC-TV (WXYZ-TV(Ch.7), Home base in Detroit, Outside Detroit Check you local ABC Channel) and the person who finsh in last place will go home Tommorrw night at 8 PM.

Jimi Hendrix: Made In London

40 years since Jimi Hendrix first came to the UK , Johnnie Walker presents a profile of Hendrix and his arrival in "swinging" London in 1966, where Jimi began to change the sound of rock guitar forever. Although born in Seattle , Jimi Hendrix was always most at home in his adopted city of London . Shy and retiring, 23- year-old James Marshall Hendrix arrived at Heathrow in September 1966 as an absolute unknown, and returned to the USA in June 1967 as a cock-sure, homecoming hero. It was in London that he had been welcomed with open arms by the musical glitterati of the 60's, here he was judged for his talent rather than his race; above all it was in London that he was redesigned, repackaged and presented back to America and the World.
