It's 9 O'Clock

and the Writer Strike is still going on into week two and there is no new talks Schueld.

so that mean the Last remaining Book show of any of the Network late night show that was going happened Amy Winehouse on Saturday Night Live will not happened.

But instend of the that he Amy doing her hit "Rehab" on Late Show with David Letterman March 12 and not only that it was her american TV debut.

Follow up to the Muggs After NGAB

well here is a Follow up the fallout to the Muggs departing Next Great American Band Last Night with some news on what going to next.

first the rating of the show which feather the muggs departher from the show without doing there Bily Joel cover and i am going to do it a little bit difference this time using the old shit from Tiny Toon Adventures that used to aired during the afternoon about ten years ago called "Good Ideal, bad ideal" [If you dont remember here a video clip]

Now remember Fox after they saw there ratings for the 1st three weeks of two hours show they cut back to one hours at 8 PM, the 9 PM Hour was the filler Don’t Forget the Lyrics and guess what it did almost three time better than NGAB getting 6.3 million viewers and a 2.3/ 7 in the 18-49 Demo.

Now that is a good Idea.

Bad Idea

Next Great American Band in there one hour of Air time it manage a 2.69 million viewers and a 1.0/ 4 in the 18-49 Not much growth from last week two hours show so no change there.

Now as for "The Muggs" what next after getting there 15 minutes of Fame well there head it back to Detroit and yes they will record a new album Next year, according to a brief blip in today Detroit Free Press Bassist[and and good singer] Tony DeNardo told the paper before show which was taped on Wednesday the Muggs was cut they would came back home and record a blues-rock album."

and i would not be surprise if there is a little motivation to send a mass age to Ian "Dicko" Dickinson that great band don't have to have a bad lead singer and hoped they don't take Dick advice to add a Fourth member for the singing.

as for any Detroit show in the upcoming further i check there myspace page [www.myspace.com/themuggs]and The Muggs Sight[www.themuggs.com]and they have no new shows book as of this date but if we know any will let you know

One more site note just for fun next Saturday i tell you how much of the Detroit crowd tune out of the show next week so be for warn.

BRAKING CULTURE NEWS and a review of Show Four [and the final show i will do on This bad show] of The Next Great American Band with the Muggs.

THE MUGGS OFFICIALLY OUT OF THE NEXT GREAT AMERICAN BAND

well if you are the luck few to read yellow on yellow background or check the spoiler by cursor it official, The Muggs ride end tonight, our hometown boys got the bad news after waiting the whole show and the Band feather Danny, Tony, and Matt are the odds band out finishing with the least amount of votes after last week horrible Elton John cover night.

They are one of two band that did not preform tonight cover song of the night billy Joel, the other band also let go of the show was the only all female band in the completion the LA Base band "ROCKET" last week they perform really bad cover version of Sir Elton john with "The Muggs doing a awful version of "I Guess what they Called it the blues" and ROCKET doing a terrible version of the Class song "ROCKETMAN"

there was edge out by the heavy metal kids bands "Light of Doom" they edge out to played at the end of the show, when ask by the hosted what happened Head Judge Ian "Dicko" Dickinson told the host it was death by Lead Singer telling Front Woman for Rocket Lauren to get some vocal lessons and to Danny to get a New Lead singer

How Ironic because last week after the show aired Danny posted something on the Muggs my space blog post a ad for what else a new lead singer and posted the home address for Danny alot of people said don't do it Danny i just a TV, by Tuesday the blog was updated to say (it's a joke people!)

and in Defence of the other band that was voted off "ROCKET", i said this story before but let me say this aging about a year and a half before the was a rock band version of American Idols i got a invited by "ROCKET" to join there friend list on my space, so before i listen i heard there music and i like them so i Join in and that was good

so when you listen to a new band i take this advice from my doing New Music Tuesday, Listen to the 1st two song in full and see if you like it or not.

as for the muggs aldought there time on the show was only three weeks [Four if you count this show] they made the Detroit rocks Scene proud and to showed the world that the Detroit scene aldught down but not out by a long shot and they will still be like by one group of fans there own fans right in Detroit.

as for the Show tonight well not much the show was cut down to a hour after three weeks of horrible ratings and they did the cover song of tonight theme "Billy Joel" which i can say much but it was bad like last week all the cover were not good expect Light of Doom which was very good and kind of like.

Dot,Dot,Dot did a are too over dramatic version of one of my fave Billy Joel pressure to tell you the thurt it was a insult it sound like Panic at the disco doing a bad version of the song yuck!

well, the ride is over, the sad News The Muggs wont be American Next Great Band.

The Good News for us, We would have too see this show aging
yeah.

but for a really Check for the next two week on Saturday i posted the rating on badly this show is begin watch.

So this mean we can watch

Now Nobody on the show is going to say any thing after Friday show end

we cover it up as best i could on who played and who did not played

So if you want to know who go kick off look placed you cursor on the yellow text to read the breaking news.

According to the Anti-American Idols{NGAB if from American Idols} Web sight votefortheworst.com, The Muggs are out of the Next Great American Band, Our own band from the Motor City finish in the bottom two after last week Awful Elton John cover night went they song a horrible version of "I Guess what they Called it the blues" and after that the Judge was Question about the Vocal of Front man Danny Metric Staying at one point Head Judge Ian "Dicko" Dickinson call his vocal “like Bart Simpson on helium.”

and to End it all off he suggest that they find a Fourth member of the band just for singing only and Danny Focus on his guitars work.

After that on Sunday According to Detroit News Melody Baetens on the Entertainment Blog that after the show Danny put a ad in the Muggs Myspace blog asking for tapes to a Auditioning for a Lead singer for Muggs and they also put the home address of Danny Muggs.

They was not the Only Band to be kick off show the all girls band "ROCKET" also kick out of the show as well after a real bad night for lead singer Lauren Rocket after she was Cirsize aging for her vocal work on the cover song including a real bad cover of Sir Elton "RockMan"

Was going to play Conan last night
Sub: LaBlogotheque take away show 2006

PJ HARVEY

Was going to be on Leno tonight
Sub: Playing Rid Of Me on Leno

Well, i have to tell one thing i am glad that the Detroit March Music Gig Show down is all over, if you have not following the whole story [and i don't have all day to type blow-by-blow] the Detroit Base indie culture site Detour Announced they will be staring there own festival the Rock City Festival on March 5th to the 8th, the same weekend as the hamtramck blowout put on the Detroit Atl. Weekly Newspaper "The Metrotimes"

And the Detroit portion of the blogitspere went total nuts as alot of people who go to show was put in a Corner choosing a Local music version of SXSW run by a news paper in a enclave city for almost ten years, or a Music festival at the main center of indie music run by the a web site that have been up for only 6 months.

and put bands in a Corner as well as words was spearing around that the band that play the detour fest may not played a months before or two week after the Detour Rock Fest fest.

It was hot talk around the Detroit music blog [Web Vomit,Motor City Rocks,Five Three Dialtone, Record Reviews, DanG My Space blog and this blog site] for five days running until on Tuesday when it was announced that the Detour Rock City Festival would move from Early March to the Next Summer of 2008 and after that there was a sigh of relief all over Detroit Rock City as the Blowout will take place as Schedule and Detroit will have a weekend of there own in the summer.

Detour in there Statement to the Detroit blog and the press, Detour said this statement: "We’re not in the business of warring festivals. We attempted to broker a deal where both events could coexist, but this didn’t work out. Detour will not be a part of any event that divides artists and their fans. We want people to play and attend our events and read our site out of passion, or simply for fun, and not because they feel like they have to take a side."

the same could be said for the Metrotimes in a quite from today Detroit Free Press Lisa Rudy, publisher of the Metro Times, was glad that the two festival will not go head to head saying to the paper "Isn't it great now that people can do both of these events at different times of year?" she said. "Why make people choose and why make musicians choose? And that's really the point."

Well, i myself a music fan that have almost over 200 shows in the last 11 years that include almost every fest that go around yearly was glad not to pick and choose between the two festival that are going on a the same, it was not healthily to the avg music fans to go back and forth between the two festival to catch the local band that we like and in the long run the fan go to both shows.

but there will be linger question that will go unanswer and will be probable fogoting when we get to the blowout and when we get to the Detour Rock City Fest.

Did the metrotimes fell a sleep at the switch when they found out that Rock city was book for the same Weekend as the blowout.

and was the booking of Rock City on blowout weekend was a shot back at the metrotimes after they fired or let go many metrotimes staffers including publisher Anthony Morrow who work 8 out of the 10 blowout.

those question will be let unawser as fans will enjoy both festival next year and you know all the bloggers will be covering both the Metrotimes Hamtramck Blowout and Detroit Rock City Fest including this one so stay tunes to this blog as detail trickle in.

and a couple of footnotes to note that sprung up during the comments on all those blogs of the two festival.

One, awsering the question did this happend once before?

Yes it did back in the early years of the blowout right around 2000 of 2001 there was a music festival that happened at the same weekend as the Blowout, But this was a protest festival because back then the Blowout support the Detroit Music Awards, many of the top bands boycott the Blowout and play a music festival that was spread out all over Detroit, that lasted for fot one year.

Years later the Metroitimes and the Blowout back away from the music festival and is no longer sponsoring the Detroit music awards, the Metrotimes pull it sponsorship back in 2004.

And second The Detour Rock City Fest is not to be confuse with a difference Rock City Festival which was held in the back on the Majestic theater in there Parking Lot and in June 2004 at the heights of the Garaged rock era in Detroit now that festival have almost every body in the Detroit Rock Scene, playing at the festival The Rants, The Thread Counts, The Grande Nationals, The Nice Device, Human Eye, Easy Action, esQuire, The Go,The Sirens, The Greenhornes, The Sights, The Dirtbombs, it was a sussced big time but they did not do a second Rock City Festival because of Nosie Complants around the Complex.

BREAKING CULTURE NEWS

DETOUR FESTIVAL MOVE TO THE SUMMER OF 08

Breaking Culture News in from the Desk of Culture City, Five Days of Anger and Worrying and the nightmare of picking two festival gigs on the same weekend in the same City Ended tonight.

According to
Web Vomit on his Blog sight, De-tour Posted a Statement to all press, that the Detour Music Festival Which have been book for the Majestic Theater Center on March 5th to the 8th the extic same weekend as the Mertotimes Hamtramck Blowout will not happen on that day avoiding a big time riff the like we have not seen since the Jack and Jason Smack down at the Stick on 12-13-03.

in a Statement, they did announced they will move the rock city festival From March to Some time in the Summer of 2008, but they did not say what the new date is

Here is the Full Statement as posted on the Web Vomit Web Site at 1:11 A.M.

After witnessing undue pressure put on bands, venues, sponsors, and the fans, Detour has decided to postpone Rock City until summer 2008. The festival will still feature the best in local Detroit talent along with a slew of the national acts we love.

We’re not in the business of warring festivals. We attempted to broker a deal where both events could coexist, but this didn’t work out. Detour will not be a part of any event that divides artists and their fans. We want people to play and attend our events and read our site out of passion, or simply for fun, and not because they feel like they have to take a side.

Thank you to the bands that agreed to take the journey and stand up with us. We’re saving a slot for you next summer.

And remember, if you’re planning a festival in the coming months, let us know so we can book something on the very same day.

Detour

they have been bad feedback since the Rock City was Announced back on Thursday to take place on the same Weekend as the blowout [March 5th-8th]some were saying the whole rock city event was put together to get back at the metro times which house many of the staff that used to works at the metro times most notable Publisher and Editor Anthony Morrow who producer 8 out if the 10 blowout

Morrow who was either let go or was fired after the last year blowout and have been running Detour since May of this year.

So a big Time culture City Gig meltdown have been adverted big time and it is good we would have to pick and Choose between two festival on the same week and the Detroit music Fans got to go to both.

That is good to see.

i going to swallow this big new and have more on this tomorrow

so that mean Four Months until blowout and least we not forget
Ten Months until DALLY 31 yeah!

It's 9 O'Clock

And you probable already know by now that the Writers Guild of America have gong on Strike today in a Despite with the Producer over payments to writers from shows offered on the Internet and Sales off DVD.

And almost all expert are saying this Strike could be a long one so almost every late night TV Show will be the first victims of the stike because no writer mean no fresh Materled for all the late night host and no new show mean all the late night show will have to go into reruns and that mean no Letterman, No Leno, No Kimmel, No Conan,No Craig Ferguson, and No Carson Daly."

No New Show mean No new Music Act that are always at the end of the show.

So instead of Music Video we present what would happened in a perfit world to see if there was a deal and if we would not be talk about the strike

On Conan tonight you be seeing Seattle Indie rock band Band of Horses who promoting there Current Album "Cease to Begin" released last month

This Week I Saw a Headach Four Months away

This have been one hell of a weekend
That have seen the Detroit area music blogs goes nuts
Big time.

i tell you in the last 19 months since i started this blog

I have seen some of best minds in Detroit Music Move out of town and Dis the City
I have seen some of my fave bands booking tours and worst yet avoiding Detroit altogether her and even they play Detroit they play Ann Arbobr, Royal Oak, or even Pontiac.
and even worst a Indie booking War between the the Stick Complex in Mid-town and and the Just Opening Crofoot in Pontiac with some of the band that i like playing the Crofoot, which is to hard to travel.

and if you can't think it get any worst for Detroit Rock City....
Late Last Week it already had.

Two Music Festival run by two difference sets of People in two Difference location on The same weekend on the 1st weekend in March.

and Like MC Hammer used to say "PROBLEM"
or Could i say big time problem

The whole story began Last Thursday as
Detour a Detroit Base Web-Zine that held there Launch Party back in September at the Stick Complex and at the CAID announced the Detour Rock City Music Festival to beheld at the Majestic Theatre Center, the 60 acts showcase would take place on March 5th through 8th.

After the some comments on some blog site were writing the Obit of the metro times blowout which have been going since 1998 mostly in the enclave city of Hamtramck and some where saying was asking what happened it the blowout was book as the same week.

Well less than 18 hours later on there website,
the Metrotimes told all of Detroit, yes there will be a blowout as the announced there was taking application on there web site at Metrotimes.com, and the blowout will take place on March 5th through 8th and after music fans read that all hell broke loose.

there have been a lot of comments on this Major Culture City Dust up the like we never seen before since Michael Colman[Former GM of WDET-FM From Aug. 2005- Dec.2006] ruin WDET-FM back in 2005 and have never been the same since.

A lot of the commet have been total mixed since the two Festival were announced most of the commute have been direct at Detour asking why put on a festival on the same Weekend as the blow out. and most of the comments have been Direct at been one person at the center of this whole story.

Detour published and Editor Anthony Morrow

Morrow have planed out 8 of the 10 blowout in it whole history, but last year he was either [depending who to believe] Fired or Let go from the paper because of cutback at the paper.

After that months later he and other started who also work at the metro times started Detour magazine at
http://detour-mag.com which focus on Music, Films, and review of a lot of shows.

most of the comments have been hard on the Detour gang calling the booking of the rock city festival a pay back at the Metro times fired Morrow and other staffer that used to work at the Metro times and the Rock City Festival is the perfit way to get back at the metro times.

but there also been question at the Metro times as well, asking the question did the Metro times was a sleep at the switch, there was rumours before the annocment that there would be no Hamtramck Blowout in 2008 leading to speculation that band was ask there would be no blowout this year and the planned Detroit Fest would be going on.

But there was some comment on the blog that the festival is a alternative to the blowout.

also there have rumours that De-tour is asking band to played that going to played De-tour to not played any other gigs a Week before of the Week After the Detour event.

some member of bands i have talk to say they will not play petty Politic in this gig smack down, and other friend that i know of will simple just don't care.

But, The big Loser in this is the music fans in Detroit who divide in the ugly game of one-up manship, because they have to decide between a local Music festival run by a free newspaper that have been in this town for 27 years or a music festival run by Web-zine made up by former Staffers form the same paper that been up for 6 months.

also big loser in all this is the bar owners in hamtramck where the blowout is located if the crowd goes to the magic stick and don't go to the blowout it could take a chuck out the bar business in hamtramck [non-holiday]

so what my opinion on this whold mess, as you know i like the indie music scene since 1996 when i saw the light and dump commerical radio, and i have been going to show for a long time and yes that include the mult-day music fest that bands that i like played and i been going the blowout every year since the first one when it was only 2-day and 6 clubs and i when to the Launch party for De-tour weeks ago at the stick complex and it was good.

But having Two Difference Festival in Two Difference Location on the same weekend in the same city separated by I-75 Between Holbrook and E.Warren Ave. is a totally bad idea, this is a little bit silly to let a personal feud between a free paper and a Web-zine to spit the avg. music fans to choose one or the other music fest is bad against the fans and worst for the scene and also with traving around the city bad as it is with no mass-transit what so ever and worst years aways doing overlapping festival is not good and worst even hurting the fans.

I hoped there is some good listener out there at both the Metro times and De-tour, My Adviced Move one of the Festival to a Difference Weekend probable the Weekend of Feb. 27th to March 1st that mean a win-win for the Metro times, Detour, and the Detroit Music Fans.

the Reason this is begin talk about Now, because Both the festival ask taking submission for Band to played both Festival, so a lot of it may change between now and March, so keep in tune with this blog site for the latest on this Culture City Smack Down.

Or if you want to send me a Commet or any news on the Dueling festival you can send a Comment or send a E-mail at culturecitynewstips@yahoo.com.

The Poet, The Rocker: The Phil Lynott Story

Phil Lynott, the former lead singer of the rock band Thin Lizzy, died in 1986 from heart failure and pneumonia after an 11-day fight for his life.

Lynott had escaped the poverty of his Dublin childhood by launching a music career, and had found fame in the 1970s with hits like The Boys Are Back In Town and Dancing in the Moonlight.

The singer always led a flamboyant rock-and-roll lifestyle, and as he struggled to deal with the pressures of his career and problems in his personal life he became involved in drug and alcohol abuse.

In this special one-hour retrospective, Phil Lynott's work and life is remembered by those closest to him. Including insights from James Nesbitt, Huey Lewis and Lesley Crowther.
