WATCHA GONNA DO ABOUT IT – THE SMALL FACES STORY

Take four London lads, add a mohair suit and some Mod swagger, a dose of Cockney humour, a touch of music hall and some drug induced psychedelia and you have a band that made some of the most exciting and vibrant pop of the 60’s….

GET RHYTHM: RY COODER AT 60

Nick Barraclough talks to his hero about his early years in Santa Monica with Taj Mahal in the Rising Sons, through his session playing for everyone from Jackie de Shannon to Bill Monroe, to the fabulous combination of L.A. soul and Tex-Mex in the Chicken Skin Revue, beautifully evocative film soundtracks such as Paris Texas – and of course the phenomenon that was The Beuena Vista Social Club.

HOLLOWAY DREAMS: THE JOE MEEK STORY

Britain's premier independent record producer of the early 60s, Meek was equally renowned for his pioneering recording techniques and eccentric personality as well as for the futuristic sounds he created. This new three-part series – presented by Tom Robinson - marks the 40th anniversary of his death.
This is the story of a true original, record producer, sonic innovator and eccentric uncle to studio geeks everywhere.

MALCOLM MCLAREN’S LIFE AND TIMES IN LA

Post the Punk era in London, Sex Pistols legend, Malcolm McLaren visited Los Angeles on a promotional tour that should have lasted a few days, but he was “utterly and hopelessly seduced” by the city and ended up staying for four years. In this, a radio-movie, he tells a very personal and funny story, flecked with his own contemporary observations of the city. We hear how he was tracked down within minutes of his arrival, by the hounds of the LA movie industry, hungry for new blood and ideas.
