Programme Seven - 4 October: Ozzy Osbourne biting the head off a dove

On-Line Rirght now

1967 was a tumultuous year for British radio: the sinking of the pirate ships, the end of the Home Service and Light Programme, the launch of Radios 1 and 2 and start of a two-year experiment in local broadcasting at BBC Radio Leicester. But what else was going on forty years ago? Tony Blackburn, the first voice on Radio 1, introduces a collage of the news, music, TV and radio of the first summer (and autumn) of love. George Brownand the breathalyser, Biafra and Vietnam, the Maharishi and the mini-skirt, Alf Garnett, Simon Dee, Dr. Finlay …….as the Supremes would say “reflections of the way life used to be”.

This episode of Don't Start Me Talking... gives a voice to the most important person in the radio equation - the listener.

This is the story of the last days of the BBC's Light Programme & the birth of Radio 2 told entirely in the words of the great British public. If you were there, it's how you remember it. If you weren't - this is how it was!

I do consider all the ideas you have offered on your post.
They're really convincing and will certainly work. Nonetheless, the posts are very short for newbies. May you please extend them a little from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.
