Kwame Kilpatrick have resign as mayor of the city of Detroit
after he pleaded guilty to two counts of obstruction of justice
by committing perjury which is a felony under a plead deal that
was hammer out late last night after the remove hearing by
Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm yesterday.

When he spoke of why he plead guilty he said
"I lied under oath in the case of Gary Brown in a civil deposition regarding information of claims I mislead and impeded justice. I also lied under oath at a civil deposition on Oct. 11, 2004 in the Harold Nelthrope lawsuit,"
also the rest of the other counts of committing perjury would be drop
he also in the same courtroom he also plead no contest
to assault charges of assaulting Wayne County Prosecutor's office
investigator who was trying to serve a subpoena on the mayor's friend, Bobby Ferguson.
He Will be is scheduled for October 28th.
His resignation will officially become effective
on September 18th.
The New Mayor will be Ken Cockrel Jr. who is
the Current the City Council President
The city clerk’s office has prepared paperwork
to allow for the transition of power between Kilpatrick
and Cockrel, who as council president becomes mayor.
A Detroit police officer delivered paperwork to Cockrel’s
office at 10:50 a.m. to enable the setting up of an
executive protection unit for the new mayor.
after the Mayor resign it was also announced the
Detroit Police Chief Ella Bully-Cummings announced her retirement
from the DPD after 31 years on the force.
