NEW YORK -- Wednesday night's American League Division Series Game 2 between the Yankees and Tigers was postponed due to inclement weather, as heavy rain blanketed Yankee Stadium.

The game will be made up on Thursday at 1:09 p.m. ET.

The game was actually delayed before the rain began falling, as a weather system was expected to hit the Bronx around 8:30 p.m.

The tarp was placed on the field at approximately 8:15 p.m. Both teams had been informed of the potential delay and told not to allow starting pitchers Mike Mussina and Justin Verlander to warm up.

After roughly 80 minutes, the grounds crew removed the tarp from the field and began preparing the field for the game, which was set to start around 10 p.m.

But at 9:56 p.m., the grounds crew put the tarp back on the field, as the game was called due to weather concerns.

And yes the Tigers still trail 1-0
