World Cup Review

Day 20 of the tounement
Friday, July 1

all match review will be from the official FIFA World Cup Site at yahoo.com or at this address fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/ for more Info.

yes we gone down from 32 team to 16 team and after eight games to cut that in half as well wetre at the elite eight this is it with no draw any more you have to win or go home, a loss in regualion is OK and Bad, A loss in Extra time could be a lot wrose but to lose in a series of PK could be devstating and a team may ask it what may be as they wait four more years to raise the world Cup.

Quarterfinals No.1
Germany vs Argentina

proved impossible to separate these sides, with 120 minutes only able to conjure up a couple of goals, Miroslav Klose’s 80th-minute equaliser cancelling out a 49th-minute opening strike from Roberto Ayala.

That left the match to be settled by penalties, and it was Jens Lehmann who proved the hosts' hero, saving from both Ayala and Esteban Cambiasso, while Oliver Neuville, Michael Ballack, Lukas Podolski and Tim Borowski all successfully dispatched their spot kicks past Argentina’s substitute goalkeeper, Leo Franco
.

First Half

7’: After a nervy, niggly opening to the game, punctuated regularly by the shrill blast of referee Lubos Michel's whistle, the first chance fell to the hosts, with Roberto Abbondanzieri spilling a 25-yard Podolski free-kick only to gather nervously at the second attempt.

16’: Ballack passed up a superb chance to give Germany the lead, heading wide of the right-hand post from 16 yards after timing his run to perfection to meet a beautifully-weighted cross from Bernd Schneider.

19’: Argentina, for whom Carlos Tevez was making a lively contribution to his second start of Germany 2006, forced their first and only half-chance of the opening 45 when marauding left-back Juan Pablo Sorin burst through on to a Tevez nutmeg and was only prevented from teeing up Hernan Crespo for the opener by a timely interception from Per Mertesacker.

45': With the action fast, furious but all too often lacking in quality, the teams went into the half-time break without either goalkeeper having been called into any meaningful action for the best part of 30 minutes. The fans’ muted response to the half-time whistle betrayed their disappointment with the first-half fare, which had fallen some way short of expectations.

Second Half

49’: Fortunately, the game was finally brought to life within four minutes of the restart as Argentina broke the deadlock. Riquelme swung in a corner from the right, Ayala got in front of Klose and met the ball with a header, which evaded the dive of Lehmann and Philipp Lahm on the near post.

64’: Germany won two corners in quick succession, with the second leading to a genuine scoring chance for Ballack after Abbondanzieri failed to claim the ball. Ballack’s shot was blocked and then a follow-up header by the Germany captain was claimed gratefully by the goalkeeper.

71’: Abbondanzieri was replaced by Franco in the Argentina goal. Seven minutes earlier, the Boca Juniors goalkeeper had received a blow to his hip from Klose and despite extensive treatment from the Argentina physio, the change had to be made.

73’: Argentina came close to doubling their advantage when Lahm’s misplaced pass was intercepted by Tevez. After the diminutive forward dribbled past the German defence, he slid the ball to Maxi Rodriguez, who fired the ball into the side-netting.

80’: With the Albiceleste looking good to protect their single-goal lead, Germany equalised. Ballack’s ball from the left was flicked on by Borowski and Klose headed home his fifth of the tournament.

89’: Argentina threatened when Luis Gonzalez’s header arrowed towards the right-hand corner of the net. Lehmann made a fine one-handed save at full-stretch, but a goal would not have counted as Tevez, lurking in the hope of a rebound, was adjudged to be offside.

Extra-time

105’: In the final action of the first half of extra time, Gonzalez hit a volley just wide of the target in a 15-minute period without an shot on goal.

106’: Straight from the restart, Tevez long-range effort was gathered the ball comfortably by Lehmann.

113’: Another shot from distance, this time from Fabricio Coloccini, but his drive finished well wide of the Germany goal. Two minutes later, the defender threatened again, but his right-footed cross-shot clipped the top of the crossbar.

Penalties Kick Shootout:

Lehmann was the hero for Germany as his saves from Ayala and Cambiasso were crucial in the Nationalmannschaft’s progression to the semi-finals. The hosts had a 100 per cent success rate from the penalty spot, with Neuville, Ballack, Podolski and Borowski all converting.

In conclusion:
Jurgen Klinsmann’s decision to elect Lehmann as his number one for this FIFA World Cup appears to be justified by this result alone. His two saves have given Germany a place in the semi-finals, where they will meet Italy or Ukraine. For Argentina, who took the lead in this game, it will be a long journey home for a team which performed so well in the early stages of this tournament.

Quarterfinals No.2
Italy vs Ukraine

A sixth-minute strike from Gianluca Zambrotta set the tone for the evening and a second-half brace from Luca Toni merely compounded the misery for Oleg Blokhin’s side. Oleg Gusev, Andriy Gusin and Maksym Kalinichenko all went close for Ukraine, but were denied by a combination of the woodwork and some excellent goalkeeping by Gianluigi Buffon.

Italy now turn their attentions to a semi-final tie with the hosts in Dortmund on Tuesday, 4 July, while FIFA World Cup™ debutants Ukraine will return home justifiably proud of their efforts.

First Half

4': Italy began brightly, with a positive, driving run from Mauro Camoranesi ending with the Juventus midfielder going for goal with a right-foot shot that curled just wide of the left-hand post from 20 yards.

6': Within the space of two minutes, the Azzurri had stormed into the lead, Zambrotta gathering possession at right-back, racing down the wing, cutting in on his left foot and lashing the ball low and hard into the back of the net from just outside the box. The unsighted Olexsandr Shovkovskyi will have been disappointed to be beaten at his near post, but the power in the Juventus defender's shot left the keeper with little chance. (1-0)

17': Francesco Totti, back in the starting line-up after his penalty heroics against Australia, tried his luck with a free-kick from 30 yards, but the ball skidded low along the turf and safely into the arms of Shovkovskyi.

27': The oft-isolated Andriy Shevchenko found space inside the box for the first time in the match, but though he rose well, his header was wayward and Buffon remained untroubled.

33': Frustrated by the lack of success of those ahead of him, Ukraine’s midfield dynamo Anatoliy Tymoschuk seized the initiative, bursting forward from deep and unleashing a ferocious 30-yard drive that flew no more than a couple of feet wide of Buffon’s right-hand post.

41': As Ukraine grew in confidence, Shevchenko again drifted away from his marker on the edge of the box, but on this occasion Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro closed in quickly and took the sting out of the Chelsea striker’s left-foot shot, which bounced safely through to the alert Buffon.

45+1': With half-time approaching, Ukraine coach Blokhin was forced into his second substitution of the opening half, replacing the injured Andriy Rusol with Vladyslav Vashchuk.

Second Half

46': Italy started the second half as they had the first, attacking. Toni led the charge, bulldozing his way down the inside-right channel and into a good shooting position only to scuff his effort into the side-netting.

50’: Ukraine enjoyed their best spell of the match, forcing Andrea Barzagli into a near-disastrous sliced clearance and then calling Buffon into his first save of note. Gusin must have thought that he had done enough by directing a powerful downward header just inside the left-hand post, but Buffon has rescued the Azzurri on countless occasions and he did so again, diving to tip the ball on to the post and wide.

58': Italy survived, but only just, after Buffon produced another remarkable save to deny Gusev at point-blank range. In truth, the Ukraine midfielder should have scored, and so too should Gusin on the follow-up, but his shot was straight enough to allow Zambrotta to make a desperate goal-line clearance.

59': Ukraine were made to pay for their profligacy inside a minute. With play having flowed to the other end, Totti flighted in an inswinging cross so inviting that Toni, stooping low, only needed to get his head to the ball to send it flashing beyond the statuesque Shovkovskyi from seven yards. (2-0)

62': If they had not already realised that this was not to be their night, Ukraine saw this confirmed when the luckless Gusin saw his looping header come crashing back off the face of the crossbar with Buffon, for once, beaten.

69’: Any lingering doubts about the outcome of this match were removed altogether when Zambrotta, this time popping up on the left, sprung the Ukraine offside trap and slid the ball across for Toni to score the simplest of second goals, tapping into the empty net from all of three yards. (3-0)

79': Shevchenko attempted to make his mark on proceedings with a powerfully-struck 30-yard free-kick, but Buffon was always behind it and comfortably fisted the ball to safety.

86': Ukraine substitute Oleksiy Belik found space inside the area to divert Gusev’s cross goalwards, but Italy's ice-cool keeper simply reached up to his left and plucked the ball coolly out of the air.

90': Toni was presented with a golden opportunity to complete his hat-trick, but after breaking clear of the Ukraine defence, his attempt to flick the ball beyond Shovkovskyi was unconvincing and the keeper was able to gather comfortably.

In conclusion:
Italy produced, arguably, their most accomplished all-round performance at Germany 2006 to date, firing a timely warning to the hosts ahead of their semi-final meeting in Dortmund on 4 July. From the very offset, Marcello Lippi's side always looked the more menacing and potent of the two, and though a only a combination of ill luck, Buffon’s brilliance and poor finishing prevented Ukraine pulling a goal back in the second half, there can be no doubt that the best side march on to the semis.

Since there no local news notes in the 313 but there pleaty of news outside the 313.

and if you think the Jack and Jason Feud was was bad this feud between now Ex-view host star jones Reynolds and Barbara Walters is something and i dont even watch it
First it began with this:

IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE CLIP I HAVE THE LINK ON
IFILM I TRIED TO PUT THE VIDEO BUT I NO GOOD
HERE THE LINK TO THE CLIP!

then after the show Walters told the new york post she was feel "betrayed" she made the annoucment on the view "I love Star and I was trying to do everything I possibly could--up until this morning when I was betrayed--to protect her.

and hold on it get better then this happen on the view on Wednesday:

It look like star cross the jack white rule dont cross with me or you get a pay back big time.

and now the glove are coming off

it today New your daily News star told the paper "For Barbara to say she felt betrayed is the height of hypocrisy," said she was humiliated by Walters' decision not only to let her go but to hire archenemy Rosie O'Donnell as co-host.

"Rosie had attacked me on every single evening entertainment program," said the 44-year-old former lawyer. "Barbara used that week to call her and invite her to be part of a show that I helped launch nine years ago."

and told the paper she was let go on April 21, and of this typing she talking she on CNN talking to larry king, This is good and i dont watch the view hey where Johnny Gomez and Nick Diamond when you need them from MTV2 Celebrity Deathmatch (which just aired new eposodes on MTV2.)

Speaking of futher eposodes MTV2 Celebrity Deathmatch and a memo to anyone going to the The Flaming Lips with Sonic Youth and Wolfmother or The Go! Team (which i get to later) and going to be in front row dont metion Ex-verve front man Richard Ashcroft to Flaming lips Frontman Wayne Coyne.

It look like the two nearly when at it on the set of BBC Tops of the pops (hey it top of the pops is going out tops or this case on the bottom, Why not end it a bang) Coyne told NME that Ashcroft recently backed out of a Top of the Pops gig where the Lips were also scheduled to appear because he "sensed a punch-up backstage" with Coyne's band. "A lot of people would have jumped in and helped," said Coyne, if Ashcroft had picked a fight with the Lips frontman. Ashcroft has since rescheduled and is set to appear on the show on July 2. Coyne suggests Ashcroft, who was recently arrested for bursting into a youth center in an intoxicated state, is a "pompous dick." But Coyne isn't just full of bad vibes; in fact, he likes some of Ashcroft's music: "That's the power of music," he said. "Great songs can be made by such a worthless twat."

And back to TV feud if you saw this on MSNBC Countdown with Keith Olbermann

My NME Single of the Week

This week three singles is a follow-up to a monster hit, a nice song from a hardcore rocker who i dont like, and a song about something i dont do a lot when i dont do my blog.

This week winners from the N.M.E.
Gnarls Barkley - Smiley Faces (Atlantic)
(
gnarlsbarkley.com or www.myspace.com/gnarlsbarkley)
This is the big follow up From a very good master sone Crazy from the alblum "ST. ELSEWHERE" which spen nine weeks on top and became the 1st no.1 single on download alone, The second song from the UK Experimental soul band is not quit thew level of Crazy, the song keep a very good flow of pace between song and the music but it slow down near the end, but it is a nice listen song.

this Week first runner-up from the N.M.E
Peaches - Downtown (XL)
(
www.peachesrocks.com or www.myspace.com/peaches)
OK i will admit i am not a big fan of Peaches her live stuff is too heavy for me, aldough he did duet with the one and only Iggy pop ibn the last alblum, but this track from her new CD "Impeach my bush" is a very good sounding this song is set to a late 70 or early 80 beat it some thing that the electic mojo whold be proud of and keep on moing ture out the song, it very good.

This week second runner up by the N.M.E.
Love Is All - Busy Doing Nothing (Parlophone)
(
www.myspace.com/loveisall8)
This is a song from the Sweden band it OK but listen to the song i think did some body turn up the volume, if you listen it sound like a calm down of the yeah, yeah, yearh, it a OK Track but it a little disorder.

So we have three songs all whorly of the title of single of the week all three are good but not good engouht, Gnarls Barkley new song is not up to snuff with there mega hit Crazy but good, Phaches have a good track that would play good anywhere but dost not move me engouht, and the Love is All was OK but not good so that mean i have to pick a winner from outside the Box, so i listen to the other song that was feather in the same NME issued(June 24 - Kooks) and we have a winners

The Winner of this week My N.M.E Single of the week is

Dirty Pretty Things - DeadWood (Vertigo Records)
(
www.dirtyprettythingsband.com or www.myspace.com/dirtyprettythingsofficial)

It looks like Carl Barât did not miss Pete Doherty that much not by a little bit this band born out of the ashes of The Libertines show that this bands is a lot better than if they did have Pete Doherty still doing The Libertines the track is a ver rocking good track and to prove that carl Barât is a better man then pete Doherty ever will be.

GOD BLESS YOU SLEATER-KINNEY
1995-2006

as you know in detroit Rock city a story a big break up band would make Major news all over the club and blog scence, Since some of you porble will not care with the news yesterday, but as a ture music fans are probale in moring today but hey life go on.

yesterday on this blog site i broke the News(and my be the only one the the motown blogspere that one of my faveor band from outside the 313 Sleater-Kinney, the wonderful powerful Riot girl band From Olypan, WA Via Portland,OR and have andser back the call the on slught of fake girls power for the spice Grils(Remember them)and rekinle the Indie rock scene with Catchey songs, nice words and amazing live shows a sleater-Kinney show was always a must for thouse hard cord fans like myself who keep coming back to there show just to get there latest CD or just get one of cool looking T-shirts.

Now, it all over just yesterday in satment released by the band ture there lable sub-pop record of Seattle release this staement which took les than 100 words and three paragraphs to sum it up:

After eleven years as a band, Sleater-Kinney have decided to go on indefinite hiatus. The upcoming summer shows will be our last. As of now, there are no plans for future tours or recordings.

We feel lucky to have had the support of many wonderful people over the years. We want to thank everyone who has worked with us, written kind words about us, performed with us, and inspired us.

But mostly we want to extend our gratitude to our amazing fans. You have been a part of our story from the beginning. We could not have made our music without your enthusiasm, passion, and loyalty. It is you who have made the entire journey worthwhile.

With love and thanks,
Sleater-Kinney

indefinite hiatus dont mean they may pull off a pixies reuion in about 10 years time but it may last long as My bloody valnrtin, But in lamend tearm, There done, over finish, History, they have trow in the towle in to retiedment.

the end of Sleater-Kinney came out of nowhere, There last CD "The Woods" came out last May 25,2005 to rave reviews and have made ever end of the year list up and down the music Maginzine and blogger top 10 or 20 CD of the year accroing to Billboard.com it have sold 73,000 copies in the United States and it debut No.2 in the Billboard indie Chart.

They will have five or if internet rumors are ture six shows left but sadly for you deroit fans who pack the stick and Majestic Theatre There will be no Detroit show in the last dates thouse show will be in Louisville(July 29),Philadelphia(July 31),Washington DC(August 1, Let hope it a NPR All Songs Considered live webcast becaues it at the 9:30 Club),NYC Webster Hall(August 2),and Lollapalooza @ Grant Park in Chicago(August 4) and just tonight as of this typing There final show will be in portland (there Hometown).

I never heard of Sleater-Kinney before 1995, The music world was recovering from the loss of Nervina lead singer Kurt Cobain, The Atl. modren rock format was growing slate and pop music was making a come back and rap was still in at this same time MTV was slow starting to suck(i know a lot of people say to me MTV start sucking since day 1 or when the orginal MTV VJ left) and as for me i got on the Alt van wagon late my first real Alt. rock star i like Juliana Hatfield after she play on Letterman in April of 1996 and i had like ever indie guys have a rock Crush on the spunky Boston singer/songwriter i always look to addict to nosie websight for all the latest info on her and a lot of new band i like like Belly the lemonHeads, the breeders, Sponge the only band i like at the time.

But the web sight was help this all female band from the pafcific Northwest and they was call Sleater-Kinney, i had no idea what they sound like (pre-high speed net days)but i know two things going for them one all the member were cute and pretty and two they have a great name for a band (name after a street off of there home base at the time Olympia, WA) and i thight this is a cool rock band i hoped they play good music that fit the name.

Then on October 23 1998 a day before the old Hudson's department store in downtown detroit on woodward was imploded, I went to my second ever gig (My first was Juliana Hatfield at the stick in 1997 which look a lot diffence back then) but i was not easy i did the clock at a high school football game at the time then rush back home get money and for a cab and a CD(at the time they was promoting one of there classic "Dig Me Out" the opener were Flin Flon, Hangovers with the one and only Gina Breach, the first time i say them they total rock the place down it was a good show, The band rock the house with the powerhouse duoing vocal of Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker with the very playful durming of Janet Weiss(Who joine the band after Lora McFarlane left dhe play on the 1st two S-K Alublum 1995 self title Debut and 1998 classic Call the Doctor) the show was so good guess what that came back to do a follow up show on June 4 1999 in a very good show with a good opener(Versus) the show was so good it even top the last show the best monment when Tucker was having so much fun her Giutar Strip Brole off it was so embering she two members of the crowd to sing the last song, Priceless.

The band released the fouth CD All Hands on the Bad One back in 2000 which inclued "All Hands On The Bad One" and "You're No Rock N' Roll Fun" they play a show but not at the magic stick but even bigger Venue the near by Majestic Theater on May 13 with The Gossip(which was my 1st time seeing),Bangs, And not only that they play a awsome show mot only they play sone from the bad one but almost ever CD to date A Real Man,Be Yr Mama,The Last Song,How to Play Dead, Call The Doctor ,I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone,Little Mouth ,Heart Attack,Taking Me Home,Good Things,Dig Me Out,Words And Guitar(The first song i ever hear),Little Babies,Dance Song '97,Jenny,Turn It On,
Get Up,One Song For You,The End Of You,Hot Rock i could go on and on but it was a good show that i like so much.

They pull off the same show they came back for a anoder good show on Febuaruy of 2003 play a gig in surrport of there sixth CD One Beat the show was were good which feather the black keys from dayton, OH.

i brought all there CD at there shows expect the last one which i brought at the record time in Fashable frendale just last year.

There Last Detroit Show will be on October 4 at St. Andrew Hall where they played to 3/4 full hall which they play a very great set with track from the Woods they were open ny one of our fave tastplant band The ponys.

so what will become of the girls of S-K, there is no know plans for Carrie Brownstein or Corin Tucker, The Only know band outside of S-K is Drummer Janet Weiss Who played in Quasi with ex-husband Sam Coomes who release "When The Going Gets Dark"

let hoped as real music fans i you like them or not this band will be remember as the best live band ever for outside the 313 to greac a detroit stage and to that i say tank you for me begin a fan of you girls, for me liking you music, For me seeing you live and for me hear rock out as you never before and not since

Thanks

The Big Show is this weekend Comerica tastefest at the new center area in midtown detroit five days of rocking out, five days of seeing two months of live gig, and five days of what going to happend.

Now itf you been reading this blog site i have post a couple of video a day for the big Five days weekend that goes from this friday to the 4th of July and i did my best to puck out video off of youtube.com will good seccuce and have trouble fining the video but i did my best to hyped up the bands of the only bands that matters in Detroit Rock City, so the most ask question i have been ask in the weeks leading up to tastefest is: Who do you are going to see at tastefest well after hypeing all other band, here my top two band that be rocking Tastefest and both will be at the Main Stage.

CAT POWER & THE MEMPHIS RHYTHM BAND
(
www.catpowerthegreatest.com or www.myspace.com/catpower)
Saturday, July 1st
Main Stage - 5:30 PM

Singer-songwriter Chan Marshall, a.k.a. Cat Power, has been performing since the mid ‘90s and recently released her seventh album titled “The Greatest.” Her shows are raw, emotional rollercoaster rides of words and music. Joining her for this performance is The Memphis Rhythm Band - an all star ensemble that includes musicians from Booker T’s MGs and Hi Rhythm Band.

This the big gig at tastefest so big that Loretta Lucas ask to swich her set time just to see cat power who is a very good singer and is a brave preformer who have a long fight with stage fright, Thsi is going to be good make up for me the last time Cat power was in detroit it was the same time as a white strips gig at the Masoinc in 2003.

THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS

And in the indie film scene, coming soon to a Theaher near you is Kill Your Idols.

Scott Crary directed, shot, and edited his first large film project for less than that amount. The film, Kill Your Idols, takes a look at New York's art-rock scene over the last thirty years. It features interviews with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth, Liars, Black Dice, Arto Lindsay, Glenn Branca, Lydia Lunch, Michael Gira, and more.

It will Screen this summer and the DVD will be out in the Fall

And almost a donzen (12) years since Singer/Songwriter Jeff Buckly drowned in the Wolf River in Memphis, There will be abiopic on the late corner Buckley's mother, Mary Guibert, will produce the film.

"I can tell Jeff’s fans with complete confidence that Brian is not the sort of fellow to sugar-coat or manipulate the facts," Guibert said in a statement. "I know that he’s a straight shooter… and I have seen from his filmmaking that he has the courage and the skill to do this the way it should be

As for casting the film, Guibert insists they're not even close to that point in the film's production. "So, now, my friends, you can swing on the chandeliers speculating about which actors will play which parts," she said. "But, don't ask me! Read my lips, you actors, out there! We will not be making any decisions about casting a film we don't yet have a script for." Guibert expects they will have a script by the fall of this year.

And guess who join the like of Paul McCartney, Shirley Bassey, and Madonna in writeing a tune for a 007 filck Alison Goldfrapp, She and song writer Will Gregory, are in final talks with musical director David Arnold to write the title track for the new 007 film, according to the Daily Mirror. If officially hired, Goldfrapp will join the illustrious list of artists who have been given the coveted task in previous years

The New James Bonds flick "Casino Royale" will be out in November and is set to star a brand new 007 -- Daniel Craig.

And this is from a source
Rollingstone.com
In a letter to their fans Bloc Party have revealed details of their forthcoming second record. “It rained a lot but it was a truly enjoyable experience” bassist Gordon Moakes apparently wrote about the time the band spent in the country working on new material. “I shan’t reveal too much just yet” Moakes demurs, “but expect a song where Matt and I play drums simultaneously; some truly R&B-styled beats; Russell’s work with a Big Muff pedal; the sound of a guitar amp being thrown off a first-storey balcony; at least one unplayable guitar solo; both eggshell-thin fragility and trouser-flapping hugeness; piano, glockenspiel, strings; you name it.” We’re hearing Arcade Fire meets Black Flag, but, you know, British.

This time around it the 4th of July weekend and who are you going to call for a movie to be release on the the fourth of July, the prefect all america hero

SUPERMAN

Not only that superman return
The first superman films since the 1987 dud Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, but this time it a whole diffence, you got a whold new cast but the same premise

Superman--born on a planet which has long since died--has been raised by adoptive parents on the Kent farm in Kansas. The young boy Kal-El is renamed Clark Kent, and though he has grown up among humans, he is not one of them. Under Earth's yellow sun, he can do two things humans can only dream of, but to co-exist with them he must live a dual life as mild, unassuming Clark Kent(Brandon Routh), secretly transforming into the Man of Steel when the world cries out for him. But now, the world's crises have gone unheeded for five long years since Superman's mysterious disappearance. Without him, crime has risen in the city of Metropolis and beyond; that's not even counting the future destructive acts of Lex Luthor(Kevin Spacey), who has been sprung from prison with the specific intent of using Superman's technological secrets for his own personal gain and glory. Lois Lane(Kate Bosworth), star reporter for the Daily Planet and the love of Superman's life, has moved on since Superman left without a word. She has even won a Pulitzer Prize for her essay, "Why the World Doesn't Need Superman." Lois has other issues to contend with--she is now engaged to the editor's nephew and has a young son to look after. But for Superman, the long search for his place in the universe ends back at the Kent farm, among the only family he has ever known. His destiny lies in Metropolis, where one look in Lois's eyes tell him that this place, among the flawed but ultimately good people of Earth, is his true home. And with Lex's plan coming to fruition mere hours after his return, the world will never need Superman more than it does now.

The movie was to be let out on friday but what the heck let released it two days before the forth of july.

The Detroit News film ciritc Terry Lawson like the movie declaring it 'Superman' steps up as he giv it 3 out of four stars he also say Everything about "Superman Returns" is satisfying, from its don't-rush-things dramatic pacing, to the performances, to special effects as artful as they are remarkable. The first major action sequence, reuniting Superman (Brandon Routh) with his lost love Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth) and involving a space shuttle launch that goes wrong, is made thrilling not only by intensity, but by the way it taps into our subconscious longing for a woman as untainted.

Once again, we have a hero who is actually comfortable in his own skin, and while he may be invulnerable, he is never impervious to the fact that we need him.

Mean time the outher fim cirit fro the detroit news was not so kind used in the headline "Up, up and a yawn
With a storyline deadlier than kryptonite, 'Superman Returns' doesn't live up to the heroic ideal as he give a film a C-

Long say The preposterous tone of this film, which does not just ask for the traditional suspension of disbelief but a complete obliteration of disbelief, is set almost immediately.

He zooms into the sky -- finally, some action -- to thwart an air disaster and promptly forgets about most of the people he's trying to save, seemingly dooming them. Whoops. Then he races after them and again comes darn near killing them all before figuring out what to do, a solution any 5-year-old could have grasped within a second. Whoops again.

Whoops? This is freaking Superman! Any military private would have been court-martialed for such ineptness; any bureaucratic drone would be fired. And we're supposed to cheer?

"Superman Returns" is arguably the most expensive film ever made, and yet you leave the theater thinking, wow, those Spider-Man movies are really good. The kid from Krypton deserved better.

The yahoo reviewers of 13 was over positev giving it a B+ the review from good to bad goes somthing like this.

World Cup Review

Day 19
Tuesday, Juune 27

all match review will be from the official FIFA World Cup Site at yahoo.com or at this address fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/ for more Info.

Round of 16
match seven of eight
Brazil(3 wins in group play, Group F winners)v
Ghana(2 wins and a loss, Group E runner up)

It is four wins and counting for holders Brazil at the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ after they beat Ghana 3-0 in Dortmund to book their place in the quarter-finals on Tuesday, 27 June 2006.

While Brazil advanced to a quarter-final against Spain or France in Frankfurt on Saturday, the talking point of this Round of 16 tie was the opening goal by Ronaldo with which the Brazil marksman wrote his name in the record books. Ronaldo's fifth-minute strike was his 15th in the FIFA World Cup, taking him past Germany's Gerd Muller as the most prolific scorer in the 76-year history of the tournament.

Ghana, the only African side to advance to the knockout rounds, pushed Brazil all the way in the opening period but after missing several chances to score, they conceded a second goal right on the stroke of half-time from Adriano. After losing Asamoah Gyan to a red card following a second bookable offence in the 81st minute, their fate was sealed when Ze Roberto added a third for Brazil three minutes later.

Ghana failed to pull off the shock that the romantics may have been hoping for but they can be well satisfied with their performance at their first ever FIFA World Cup. Brazil, as most perhaps expected, won through on an afternoon where the world champions' finishing power was the difference between the teams.

Round of 16
The Last Match of the round of 16
Spain(3 wins in group play, Group H winners) v
France(a win and 2 draws in group play, Group G runner up)

Late goals from Patrick Vieira and Zinedine Zidane booked France a quarter-final tie with Brazil as they came from behind to beat Spain 3-1 in Hanover on Tuesday, 27 June 2006.

A 28th minute penalty from David Villa had given Luis Aragones’ side the lead, but Frank Ribery’s equaliser four minutes before half-time restored parity for Les Bleus.

With the match heading for extra time, Vieira’s header from a Zidane free-kick took a deflection off Sergio Ramos and ended up in the back of Iker Casillas’ net.

As Spain pushed for an equaliser, ‘Zizou’ took advantage of a misplaced pass from Cesc Fabregas, before turning past Carles Puyol and steering a shot beyond Iker Casillas.

France will now meet Brazil in Frankfurt in the quarter-finals on Saturday 1 July.

Answering their critics, France produced a fine all-round performance to set up an intriguing quarter-final against Brazil. Spain, who had shown so much promise in the group stage and taken the lead midway through the first half, pack their bags for home having once again flattered to deceive in a major tournament

That was the last of the Round of 16 match in the 2006 world cup, and now the quart-final is set, here the match up in the round of eight:

(FROM PITCHFORKMEDIA.COM)
Arcade Fire Spill Droplets of Album Info

So many bands have appeared on the scene since Arcade Fire released Funeral at the end of 2004 that the album almost seems like ancient history. Remember the days before Beirut, before Tapes ‘n Tapes, before even Clap Your Hands Say Yeah? What a looong time ago.

Fortunately, it's summer, which means it's time to toss the history books out the window and take a dive into the sea of hype. And add a few more drops to that sea, because Win Butler has given us precious little information on the follow-up to Funeral.

In a journal entry on the band's beautiful but thoroughly confusing website (hint: go to "Win's Scrapbook"), Butler gave a progress report saying things are going well in the studio and that the band members are expanding their musical palettes:

"Feeling excited and inspired, learning to play all these new instruments... well, mostly Regine is, to be honest! It's gonna be really interesting how we're going to fit all of these new sounds in a tour bus. This week we are recording a huge fucking pipe organ on 2 songs. What an incredible sound!"

Butler said the band have laid about 15 tracks to tape "with little bits left to record," but there are still a couple more left, with "a couple of songs in me and Regine's living room, because the drums sound so great in there."

Owen Pallett, a.k.a. Final Fantasy, will take a small break from his touring schedule in July to play violin on the currently-untitled record, and there are also plans to record with "a full orchestra in Budapest just before Tim [Kingsbury] and Natalie's wedding in late July!" Wedding?! Sounds like the next album title right there.

please pradon me ending this post early because of breaking news on top a wednesday post tomrrow

see you then

Good night and good luck!

(Just only Four Day to tastefest)

When do we get to the end of the week

The is the week leading up to the most important music festavial in all of detroit, More bigger than all the festival at hart plaza it our own litte Coachella and it the longest set up span over five days that blanket the 4th of july weekend it the one and only taste fest from live and direct from The new center area Covering two streets a half of millions people you got ever who will show to rock out to over 60 band playing you got your Hairshirt, you got Grande Nationals, you got The Demolition Doll Rods, you got your Speaker Phone, you got your Amp Fiddler, you got your Lola Valley, you got your Great Lakes Myth Society, you got your The Sights and SSM and The Decks and the paybacks and you Blanche and Loretta and the Larkspurs and The Hard Lessons and Tone & Niche and Salt Miners and also you have your shoe. and your Audra Kubat and your main coruse like Common, Ray Davies, Mavis Staples, Kings of Leon, The Red Rocks, Eric Burdon and the Animals, The All American Rejects, Cat Power and the Memphis Rhythm Band and the one and only The New Pornographers all coming together for five days of nutted madness in the New Center area and it will get going friday and will last untill the fourt of july, This wilkl be a great fest as always and trust me you get all of what going on with Daliy dispacth from Tastefest everday after tastefest and a full review the wensday after Tastefest.

My weekend was very nice went to Detroit Permeire and DVD release gig of the indie filme Wayne County Ramblin at Bohemian National Home in west corktown in downtown detroit the film which inclulde the one and only Rocks icon Iggy Pop, Dirthbombs Lead singer Mick collins and Detroit Soul Legones who also the narrator Nathaniel Mayer i came for the film and to see The Raining Sounds with ex-tough and lovely and now full time Bass player Carol Anne Schumacher who also told me she is also playing with the one and only Detroit Corbas, I hoped she surive Rachel Nagy. I was a good time as always and if you more info on the film and order a copy you can go to this address at www.waynecountyramblin.com.

on Sunday i went to a garged sale run by Eric Stollsteimer and and the always pretty and fit Marcie Bolen and the always wild Yasmine "Wildcat" Smith (And i know your asking no relation to Ex-Von bondies Bass palyer Carrie Smith) it was a nice day in detroit metro Eric told me i was a very good yard sale expect on saturday but the best story was on sunday when me a marcie was talk about old TV and "save by the bell" and there was one costermer was looking for something and he went to a long vinly records stack, and this guys who look thughit the stack saw his own record Collection which was a shock to him and Eric and to me as a looker on who hanging Out talking to a friend of mind, But there a back story to this story.

The peoson who brought his own collection was a big music fan way back in the 70's and used to go out to rocks show downtown at cobo hall and the ford auditorm and get the latest alblum and get the late hit vinly alblums that will be a millions seller and this guys used to be in some funk bands but then he slip in the very evil world of crack and he was addict and had a tought time geting off that stuff and it was hard to get out of it and worst have seel off the vinly to support the addtion which was the worst of all. but this guy who bought his vinly coltion have been clean for 18 months and is living a happy life and go to church, so yesterday was very special
indeed as he was reunited with his record collection and that is special.

Notes From the weekend

I saw Jon Moserie Ex-D.J. at WDET-FM who i talk to for the first time in a long time and i know it have been a long time he told me that he will be back on the air on CJAM 91.5 in windsor doimg his in sound show from 2:30 to 4:00 on thursday in a few weeks, the sation could be head on the CJAM web sight at www.uwindsor.ca/cjam or www.cjam.ca, He have work at WDET for ten years untill he was let go a couple of weeks after working for three months as Senior Music Producer untill a bad spring fund rasing froce to let go jon and other at DET, DET is tring to make up the $230,000 with a ask a friend to donate to WDET, right like that is going to work.

Speaking of WDET the GM who made DET a unlistenable station Michael Coleman was sentenced on Thursday to 2 years' probation and ordered to pay $3,500 in restitution
for his role in the fund-rasing embezzlement scandal at his old job at WUOM-FM In the no-contest plea sentencing agreement, a felony embezzlement charge of under $10,000 was dismissed and he was order to do 50 hours of community service in the no-contest plea deal of one charge one count of embezzling under $200 a reduce chage of what he was facing a felony embezzlement charge of under $10,000 which was dismissed, and it seem odd that Colman according to Wanye state own Student Newspaper "The South End" was not a court on June 22 but some one who work detpratment was at the earhing to report on it, Duh!

Also it look like there will be a Concert date merger in detroit on Auguest 4, a very good mole told me on Saturday night that the two concert at the sametime at the stick and at the state will not happend, The Go! Team which was suppout to be there first show in detroit at the stick on Aug. 4
will not happend, it been cancelled but my good mole also told me why that wolfmother have pulled out of there opener slot in the big show at the state theather in downtown Detroit with The Flaming Lips and Sonic Youth no giving on why they pull out, it may be becase there playing Lollapalooza at Chicago Grant Park at Aug.5, But Wait there more the same mole who told me about the go team No go at the stick and wolfmother pulling out of a big show at the state told me they found a replacemet for the show on Auguest 4 and guess what the replacement is The Go! Team who it a DETROIT CULTURE TONIGHT CONCERT MERGER, and what became a big show have become a supershow of lollapalooza preportion.

WOW, Where do i get tickets

Speaking of WOW it look like one of our fave band from out state but in the Region, The Ponys from lovely chicago, IL have singed a worldwide, multi-album pact(about two)with Matador Records. good for you kids, The band from the windy city have released two CD Laced with Romance (2004) and Celebration Castle (2005) and there a fave around detroit, so we may be hearing more from them.

and now other things out side the 313 indie scene

And it look like Postal Service have begin work on that long awaited Follow up alblum to the well like, and well love 2003 alblum Give up that inderduce the world to Jenny Lewis who with her other band Rilo Kiley and her solo work made her the hottest indie rocker ever, in a recent interview on MTV.com, Ben Gibbard said "We're slowly starting. We're crawling right now, and whether that crawl turns into a walk remains to be seen. But we'll know more towards the end of the year. I've just been touring so much and trying to find time to make it happen and make our schedules line up."

"We're talking about wanting to finish an album by sometime next year, say Jimmy Tamborello "because we have to work with Death Cab's schedule and stuff. I definitely want to do another one".

He hoped that the lovely miss lewis will be more involed with the new alblum, but depending on her schedule, she might contribute as a songwriter on the new one

According to MTV.com, only two songs have been recorded for the album, but writing and recording will take priority once Death Cab for Cutie's tour schedule winds down.

Speaking of which thous who where hoping for the 1st new pixies CD in a long, long time after a very succful reunion tour, you may want to forget it pixies front man Frank black have told billboard have given up on trying to write new Pixies songs for a widely rumored, yet wholly unrealized sixth studio effort.

Black has reported writing several songs at the beginning of 2006 in an attempt to lure bassist Kim Deal into making another Pixies album. The results were less than encouraging. "I tried to find my Pixies muse and write a so-called Pixies number but they weren't any good," Black told Billboard. "They sounded a little contrived or something. That's the problem with trying to repeat something you did a long time ago."

Black have just releaase his new solo alblum Fast Man Raider Man just last week.

All for thouse of you who have been living under a rock, Last week the BBC have thown in the towel for
