The mother of a woman on trial for killing three musicians in a car crash two years ago has taken the witness stand in her daughter's defense. Jeanette Sliwinski is charged with murder after slamming her vehicle into a stopped car in a failed suicide attempt.
Prosecutors have presented all of their evidence. The state rested Thursday. Then, late Thursday afternoon, the defense called its first witness, Sliwinski's mother Ursula.
Ursula Sliwinski described her daughter's dramatic change when her daughter suddenly came home from California, being sad, disorganized. She testified that her daughter talked about voices from the television talking to her and laughing at her. On the day of the crash, she described her daughter as being in bad condition, saying she was just standing there, not saying anything.
Thursday was a hard day for the victims' families as well. They heard graphic details about the injuries of some of the victims. A Cook County deputy medical examiner gave that graphic information about how the three men died -- 39-year-old Michael Dahlquist, 35-year-old John Glick and 29-year-old Douglas Meis.
The judge also heard from a doctor who saw Jeanette on the day of the crash. While he said that she was appropriate when he asked her questions, he did order a psychiatric evaluation.
"I had not seen anything the day she arrived. She was admitted to the hospital. Approximately the next day, around 3 in the morning, the nurse noticed her acting a little funny, throwing things around the room, not to the point she needed to be restrained or medicated. She had called me at 6 in the morning the following day letting me know of her odd behavior. At that point, a psychiatric valuation was ordered," said Dr. Giovanni Giannotti, trauma surgeon.
The judge also heard from an accident reconstruction expert who said he estimates that at the time of the crash Sliwinski's car was going 87 mph when it crashed into Honda Civic carrying those three men, ejecting them.
The trial is expected to go through next week.

A Culture City New Follow Up
Well, we have a follow up to a story that was big News about two week ago in the Detroit Music Scene and was clear up last week with a my space E-mail and a story in last week Detroit News writen by Melody Baetens.
Now back on Friday October 6th [ORGINAL POST] i posted that the underground rock club which open back in 2001 and pick up the slack after the closeing of the gold Dollar in the Midtown area was sold to a unknow buyer and some say would turn in to a blues bar possable for spin-off business for the new MGM Grand hotle andf Casino in SW Detroit
But Since that post the Day after the post when up on the blog i got a meesage on the myspace message board from the lager house myspace page with this question:
Answer to: Is the Lager House closing?
Body: NO! For the umpteenth time, NO!
but i did confrim a bunch of details that are ture, the Current Owner of the lagur house The Weakly family [who owned the club for three generations] sold the Bar to a pair of Business Men and music Fans From the Detroit Area.[More on that later]
the co-booker Rich and Jay were let go as booker at the culd which is on the Eastern Edge of the Corktown area in SW Detroit, but i talk to Rick on Saturday at the Destro show at the belmont and told me that he quit after a metting with the new owner, but either way both rick and Jay are gone as booker at the Lagur.
as for the new owner they have been Finaly revele, The New Co-Owner of the Lager house are P.J. Ryder who was born and Rasied here in Detroit and is well know in the music scene because He Owned P.J. Records for about 15 years in Ann Arbor.
His Co-Owner of the lager House is George Kelly who Currenly owne a book store in Dearborn and is also a working musician in the area
as for what will become of the lager house well let say it will get a major remodleing job as they will New flood, better sound system and not only that better restroom and both the men and woman will be together, and that brought joy to the Scene, because if you every used the restroom well there not the best in the detroit area and not only that the girls restroom is located in the Courner fo the stage area, the men area is near the patio.
as far for the music at the Lager house well During the ownership chang over there will be no Music What so ever at the lager house but after the changeover there will Still be indie bands and Detroit playing there at the Lager, but there will be some Folk Music and some Blues music at well.
The New Owner will try to have music every Night at the Lager instead of the anything goes booking in the past, but with a small club like the lager it a big risk because most of the action for gig in Detroit are Friday and saturday and just recently the crowd for the midweek show in Any Detroit venue have been spacr, Just recenly a Rilo Kiley show which was held at the Royal Oak Music Theater[Which i attended] was only half full for a monday night, So doing a gig every night in any club in detroit these days is kind of risky.
As of when the music Come back well there was one rumore that there was a Gig book for the biggest Bar Night of the year which is the Day Before Thankgiving, But there neader the regual sight [www.lagerhousedetroit.com] or there myspace sight[www.myspace.com/lagerhouse] have not been update in a wheild so stay tune as we update the further of the lager House.

A Little Thank you Note from The Edtior After my 1,000 Post
Well this is Post No. 1,005 of this blog sight, I know i am in one of those long Lud on this blog sight as i am trying to pick up on business on this sight after almost 18 months working on this thing on something i really, really like that is the indiepend culture thing mostly indie music which i have been a fan for almost 11 years.
And aldought this sight have been tough to write in finding time and not begin distaced by the TV or audio off the Internet [i.e. Internet Radio which i have to remind you to contact you represent or senator in Congress and ask them to Support the Internet Radio Equality Act, HR 2060 and S.1353]but it have been hard work to follow and list the things we love that are Follow the band and solo singers we like unless there Name is Briney Spears then i inroge them like a bad kid in School.
But it is so much fun for over these last 18 months give you what other people are listening other than the brought and paid for top 40 that is ruined music all together as well as American Idols so let hope for a bad singer next year just like Sayjai this year.

But it is so much fun for over these last 18 months give you what other people are listening other than the brought and paid for top 40 that is ruined music all together as well as American Idols so let hope for a bad singer next year just like Sayjai this year.
So there is a lot of people i would like who been hanging on during the 18 months i have wrote on this blogger sight and please i would like to say i am sorry in advance because i can not get to almost everyone i know, but i know who you are.
1st and for most i would like the reader of this blog sight who found it after i told them i do a blog sight or total found it by total accention and come back almost each and every time and thouse who came back i say thank you.
Not only that my fellow metro Detroit area blogger who have got good shout out like the 1st sight that mention this sight Motorcityrock.com they was the First web sight in Michigan to mention that i have a blog sight after i told former writer Jackie to mention that i do have a blog sight, so i thank you Jackie for the mention.
Also i thinks my local web friend Jasper from Web Vomit[http://jasper.webvomit.com/] who 1st lead me to Jar who is The Operator of Fivethreedialtone.com which is a very good blog sigth and thank me for after i 1st saw it on web vomit sight so i thank you both Jasper and Jar.
Also thank you for some good people and Support form the good people of Detour Magazine the web-Zine run by Anthony Morrow and also staff Writer the one and only Johnny Loftus who both used to work at the metro times who i thank them for there surrport as well and speaking of Ex-Metro times Worker also a big shout out to my good Neborghet former Listing edtior at the MT and now in the Fun World of P.R. my good Friend Eve Doser.
Also thank you From what i like to called them Friends of this Blog sight the friends who are my friend and not only that did read the blog sight Friends like Augie, Ko ko Louise, and the Anvil of the Hard Lesson, the Fonda's, Ryan of the thunder bird are now and hi new wife Angela, Eddie of the sights, Current and ex members of the The Von bondie[Jason, Marcie], member of the band hellen Amanda, Becca, Katie, Charmain , and Emily , The Display, The Muldoons, The Paybacks, Member of SSM and that incldued Matt "Monther"Morris, 1st friend who send me a commet and every since then called a friend of the blog sight stephanie from hand made Detroit and to my old friend Lish and Care Gufinson who is also part of Handmade Detroit and is also in Serenity Court and also Scotty hagan form the Bellyache Candy shop and also friend i see almost every day like Lee ex- of Wendell records, Kyel from the Dead Letters, Troy and Laura Gregory and also local Film Makers James P and Sarah
of it came from Detroit
and one more thing before i sing off few people i would also like to give thanks the twin terror of local radio on Tuesday Night Suzy Cole and Melody Licious of Detroit Local 101[Every Tuesday Night from 10 to midnight on WRIF-HD2] for the consent mention of this blog sight over and over aging or just say hi in general
one of my fave cirect on how i write my blog because he a writer himself and have his own blog name after a album by Jonathan Fire*Eater and that is the one and only drummer of the Dirtbombs Ben BlackWell
and last but not least the one person who i talk up almost every time i get to see here live because she is the underrated pretty rockers in the Detroit area aldought she have a boyfriend, The Love and beautiful front woman of the Nice Device and now a member of the Von Bondies Alicia Gbur the pin-up of all culture city and a very nice person.
i have more name to say off the top of my head but i can think of any one at the Moment so if i left off anyone i am sorry and also i would like to thank the friends who read this blog sight who now live in Chicago,Denver, Los Angles, San Franscio, Portland, and Seattle and elsewhere.
so by the time i do the blog sight in three years i hoped the blog sight would by better than so i remind you to bookmark and keep reading.
