Front man Kevin Shields

This week was the day that every ture blue rock fan have been waiting since 1992 to hear these words My Bloody Valentine is going to play a live gig.

This week came word that the Dublin, Ireland Shoe gazing band will reunite for the 1st time after there 1991 Alternative Classic "Loveless" which turn out the song "Only Shallow" not only that in a interview with the Vice Records web show soft Focus the Front man also album out before year's end which made up of stuff made in the 1990.

show in the UK on June 20th in London, June 28th in Manchester, and July 2nd Glasgow,

On Thursday ticket went on sale for the 1st three show in the UK on June 20th in London, June 28th in Manchester, and July 2nd Glasgow, thouse show sold out in 6 minutes in London, a 1/2 hour in Manchester, and 15 minutes in Glasgow.

and because of that the band book extra dates and they will do seven dates among thoues three UK City.

as for a date in the us nothing is sterght yet we do want to jump ahead now they still could play Coachella 08 in April but nothing is a giving.

all of this is prefect timing as for the 1st time in a long time Front man Kevin Shields talk for the 1st time about the reunion, the prosecc in making a album, his upbringing, and more.

The Interview was present in four parts on Vice records vbs.com on the Soft Focus web show and ever since then this have been reposted on every blog, on you tube.

and with news of MBV getting back together this is Hugh.

So here are all four parts of the interview with My Bloody Valentine Kevin Shields as done by the host of Soft Focus Ian Svenonious

Part One

We kind of don’t want to spoil it for you, but in this edition Ian sits down with the man behind My Bloody Valentine’s deafening and dreamy reimagining of guitar music, who has, shall we say, a little announcement about the supposedly defunct band.

Part Two

In this installment, Kevin talks to us about all the technical minutia behind My Bloody Valentine’s crazy bendy dream-sound and dispells their association with all the 4AD and shoegaze bands they always get lumped in/between. Lots of good music-geek jargon like wet vs. dry production, reverse reverb, chord resolution, that sort of stuff.

Part Three

In part three, Ian and Kevin discuss the effects of growing up in both New York and Ireland on Kevin’s musical and “coolness” sensibilities, Husserl’s theory of phenomenological reduction, My Bloody Valentine’s crazed Catholic stalker, and learning to appreciate the music of Joe Meeks even after one of the guys from the Tornados tried to convince Kevin he was going deaf.

Part Four

In the final part of his interview, Kevin pooh-poohs the notion that My Bloody Valentine were louder than any other bands, describes the inherent problems in the idea of revolution, and calls out the “carbon neutrality” movement for the naive horses#!& it is, while Ian harangues him about the song “Glider.”

"Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium":[G]

The oldest toy shop in the world is owned by 243-year-old Mr. Magorium (Dustin Hoffman), then it's bequeathed to his manager (Natalie Portman), who worries she will not be able to supply the magic that makes the store special.

The novel by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is finally brought to the screen by director Mike Newell. It's the story of a 50-year love triangle involving Fermina Daza (Giovanna Mezzogiorno), Dr. Juvenal Urbino (Benjamin Bratt) and Florentino Ariza (Javier Bardem).

The hunter decides he's entitled to the more than $2 million in cash left behind, an assumption that's disputed by men who hire a cold-blooded psychopath (Javier Bardem) to recover the loot.

"Blade Runner: The Final Cut":[R]

"Blade Runner" returns in Ridley Scott's definitive final cut, including extended scenes and never-before-seen special effects.

SUMMER '04
(Germany/2006/Stefan Krohmer)

An unmarried couple in their late 40's, Miriam and Andre are vacationing in Andre's century-old cottage along the Baltic coast of Germany, where they are joined by his teenage son Nils and his precocious pre-teen guest Livia.

What begins as a breezy summer idyll soon turns into a taut thriller in which director Stefan Krohmer precisely dissects contemporary German angst about age, sex and class. Martina Gedeck (The Lives of Others) gives a stunning performance as a mature woman who is unexpectedly overwhelmed with passion when Livia initiates a friendship with a handsome German-American stranger from a nearby cottage. Soon afterwards, every off-kilter detail of Miriam's behavior links a chain of events that will suddenly and surprisingly change all their lives.

It's 9 O'Clock Extra

The Kevin Sheild Interview
by vbs.tv Soft Foucs show

Part One

My Bloody Valentine
Only Shallow
"Loveless[1991]

It's 9 O'Clock

and there still no new talks in the WGA/AMPTA Strike
and it day eight and everybody is staying when will it end

But the Good news over the weekend i saw the Austin City Limits show with the always amsome and still cool

Arcade Fire
[From SNL,May 2007]

The Indie News Round Up

Now Nine times out of ten Most of the stuff in the indie news are mostly bad.
but think of to news is like a sort of new car model for the Detroit Auto show

the CD and album version of "In Rainbows" out on a us Label

after doing the Downloaded version of "In Rainbows" for almost next to nothing Radiohead have signed a US deal with ATO Records Group and will released the CD version of "In Rainbows" here in the USA on the second days of the new year, two days until the album drop on Dec 31st on XL records in the UK, the 1st single "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" will drop in US radio station.

Weezer is really back, really

when i started this blog back in May of 2006, one of the 1st story was that Weezer would never record aging, sic, well today Rivers Cuomo announced there will be new Weezer album released on New Music Tuesday April 22,2008 and oh yes they will tour, but Rivers rel3eased his solo stuff a week before X-mas with a album called Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo.

and More Good News, My Bloody Valentine is almost back

in a interview Kevin Shields on VBS.tv's Web Show Soft Focus, he confirm that 90's Shoegazer band will released and new album there 1st since 1991 Loveless, saying that will contain material recorded by Shields and guitarist/vocalist Belinda Butcher over a decade ago, some material from even earlier in the '90s, and "a little bit of new stuff," Shields says. "It sounds like what we sounded like -- different, but not radically different. People will go, 'Yeah, it sounds like My Bloody Valentine.'"

No word yes that every body will be asking are they play Coachella

and two Local Music Notes

Ghost City "One and Done"

According to our friend of this blog site, Jasper of Web Vomit that Ghost City who have released there self title album back in October at Cliff Bell's is no more they broke up because of one thing time, Chris Tait is soning the Electric Six, Leanna Metro is doing "The Sirerns" and "The Von Bondies", Stephen Palmer is doing the dead Bodies and Brandon Codeine is doing Jason & the Hounds Below.

So it all blog down to time they did not have any time to do a full band.

A Almost Old School American Mars Reunion

And to wrap it up when i was talking to Thomas Trimble at the Belmont the other week he drop this on me that he going to be in the new project with the line-up from American Mars 1997 Album "Late" and it you remember the line up of the band in 97 it was Thomas Trimble vocals, guitars, Brad Richards on guitar, Karla Richardson on bass and vocals, and Dave Lentz on drums.

and they will used a difference band name with the 1997 line-up.

Breaking Gig News

[No you Video for Breaking Gig News]

but you will like this, According to Detroit News Music Writer Adam Graham and Mark you Calendar the Foo Fighters will go on tour and yes they will make a Stop in Detroit on Sunday February 24, 2008 with ticket going on Sale this upcoming Friday at 10 am with a low end ticket begin $25 bucks.

So it look like it a begin of a Cool gig comeback after a few years of band skipping Detroit.

but with some good news come a annoyance Factor in the same story on the Detroit News Web Site detnews.com Matchbox Twenty and Celine Dion will do local gigs as well but the goo news it will be up north[i.e. The Palace of Auburn Hills]

Matchbox Twenty will play there on Feb.2 with Alanis Morissette and Mute Math opening up that the good news.

and the queen of the zappy love song will do a gig Next September as in Sept. 26 and will go on sale next Monday but hey will have to gather all the cool Montreal band between now and then.

Today Show[11/12]:
Spotlight on Dopplr

We’ve joined a lot of websites in our day, but never has one social network captured our hearts and minds the way Dopplr has (this week, anyway…). We figured, being a small startup ourselves, that it might be nice to help them out with a little promotional infomercial about how Dopplr has changed our lives. They didn’t ask us to (or pay us), and we hope they don’t mind (please don’t hurt us, we’re fragile).

Gig Gudie Extra

Now there was a lot of gigs that i did not put on this week gig guide but i added the New Gigs that is coming down the road in the last couple of Months as well in to the New Year.

and i was reminded in yesterday Detroit Free Press that just like last year TV Dancing with stars [Which this season edition is down to only five left]will go on tour, ticket went on sale today [Kind of odd for tickets to go on sale on a Monday]for the Detroit stop on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at the Joe Louis Arena in Downtown Detroit,

Pro and Star Dancer that will be at the event will be Wayne Newton, Cheryl Burke, Sabrina Bryan, Mark Ballas, Joey Lawrence, Edyta Sliwinska , Monique Coleman, now the Cheapest tickets i can find is $52.50, Ouch

But For a Cheaper Alternative for about $12 bucks you can see the one and only The Fiery Furnaces the Brother and sister duo from Brooklyn will do a Detroit date on December 13th at the Magic Stick in Midtown Detroit In Support of there 6th Album called "Widow City" which was released on October.

The Big Question is how long can the band keep on going with out stopping and not only that Eleanor Friedberger is Hot.

and Speaking about gigs at the magic stick, they have not forget about the X-mas Show at the stick and it dose have a Date the 6th annuls Detroit Sound and Spirits will take place on the Friday after X-Mas on December 21th at the stick now i don't have any info on the show if self but Stay tune for more info as the Day Get Closer.

It Came From Culture CIty present Mahalo Daily with Veronica Belmont

Nov. 6 Show:
Tesla Road Test

With
gas prices soaring and global warming a hot-button issue, many people have been looking for an alternative to gas-guzzling cars. We were fortunate to be able to check out the headquarters of Tesla Motors, who have created the first fully-electric sports car. While it’s on the higher end of the price range, the interest it has garnered (not to mention the 600+ person waiting list) shows that many people are willing to try an alternative. This thing moves, too. It can go from 0-60 in about 4 seconds, and when we were out on the highway it felt like we were passing everyone in a silent blur of silver. Not a bad way to travel!

Yo-Yoing Around

The
Yo-Yo Championship was like nothing we’d ever seen before! There were kids and adults alike with the kind of hand-eye coordination and concentration that seemed almost superhuman. Luckily when it came time for us to wield the Yo-Yo, we had a little (read: a LOT of) help from our friend Doctor Popular. He not only taught us a few tricks, but also kept us from severely injuring ourselves and others in the process. Special thanks to Self Edge for hosting our Yo-Yo lesson.

Nov. 8th Show:
Obama, Hillary, or Gore?

Al Gore sure has been in the news a lot lately! First he won an Oscar, then a Nobel Peace Prize, and now some people are saying he should throw in his lot with another bid for President. But up against juggernaut Hillary Clinton and the favorite of the stars, Barack Obama, would Al Gore stand a chance? We decided to ask people in the one place we were SURE Gore would get the thumbs up: San Francisco.

Nov. 9 Show:
Video Game Addiction

We went to BlizzCon back in August, and met a lot of people who are obviously huge fans of (supposedly addictive) games like World of Warcraft and Starcraft. We wanted to know the answers to a few simple questions: how do you know if you’re addicted to a video game? What are the signs? Is there any light at the end of the tunnel, when your hands have cramped beyond recognition and your friends have stopped bothering to call? As a Warcraft fan, this episode really hit home.
