I promise musician, bartender,radio DJ,Booker, and writer Melody Baetens i would put the line up ASAP, but i been kind of slow as of late not only that doing thing outside the computer so here is the line up for the this year hamtramck Labor Day Festival which will take place during labor day weekend [Aug. 29 - Sept. 1], it will be the same day as all the other festival like Jazz Fest, the last weekend of the state fair, and Art, Beat and Eats.

CD Released gig Maddness in Detroit
Never in the like of music gig in the Detroit metro area
there have nerve been so many CD release gigs in one weekend
in one city all in the same time
i know have one big show to released you brand new album so all you local fans can get the album but this is too much.
There is a grand total of five CD released show
this weekend in the motor city
So to break it down
this is:
1 - tonight
4 - Saturday Night
2 - Downtown Detroit
1 - Midtown
1 - inter burds [Hamtramck]
1 - Pontiac
9 - Opening Band
8 - are from Detroit
1 - from outside the 313
all of them are head lineing expect for one
and i know almost all of them will be filled
i know never even in the heights of the early 2000's Detroit rock explosion there have been five CD released show happened at the same weekend and four going on at the same time on the same day.
so with almost ever show happening out there i should put a list of which show is playing where, who headlining and who is playing to opening up the night.

CD: Aint Gonna Put Us Down
Opener: Smashed Windows and Woodman
Venue: Garden Bowl
Location: Midtown
Cover: Free
This is the only Friday Night show on the CD release gig tour and the only Free show among the five gig, after a released a handful of EP, the teenage band fronted by Andrew Heckler released the Jim Diamond produce CD of old school Garage rock which clock in at almost 25 minutes, also they have a new line up with The Crooks drummer Josh Cohen and Ben Van Camp.
Also playing at this gig will be "The Smashed Windows" and the Family band "The Woodman"

And this is about the most talk about show of the entire town they are feather in this week Metro Time Cover, the Band who have been every body fave since hitting the stage five years ago, as Gin, Ko Ko Louis and the soon to be departed The Anvil released the fourth and final chapher of the B & G Sides as the released all four in one box set.
As always they put on a great show and opening up will be Alt country fave AMERICAN MARS, up and comers THE FOUR HOUR FRIENDS, and student from THE PAUL GREEN SCHOOL OF ROCK.

And last but not least if you can't go a long way to pointaic or don't feel like going downtown Detroit there always the Belmont in Hamtramck as a little bit of love from Suburban Sprawl Music Label where "Javelins" will released "Heavy Meadows" with a gig at the Belmont, and opening up for them will be Nouns and the fast rising band from Lansing, the very pretty and very quirky "Lightning Love"

Due to the Strike by the Writers Guild of America, some of the late night Talk show are running repeats of Old Shows, so for the time beging i have pulled the who on where untill they settle this thing and i hope it soon.
But if you want some good news the writers and producers have sewt to resume talks next monday as they try settle this now nearly tree week old strike.
and also there is some word in the press that some of the late night host are talking off comming back to the air even if the writers dont have a new deal.
Now just a reminder that the writers are used in the first 20 mintues of the show the other 20 is used for guests and the last 10 to 15 mintues for the music act or a second guest, so they will do a show even with out the writers, so stay tune.

Now there was a lot of gigs that i did not put on this week gig guide but i added the New Gigs that is coming down the road in the last couple of Months as well in to the New Year.
and i was reminded in yesterday Detroit Free Press that just like last year TV Dancing with stars [Which this season edition is down to only five left]will go on tour, ticket went on sale today [Kind of odd for tickets to go on sale on a Monday]for the Detroit stop on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at the Joe Louis Arena in Downtown Detroit,
Pro and Star Dancer that will be at the event will be Wayne Newton, Cheryl Burke, Sabrina Bryan, Mark Ballas, Joey Lawrence, Edyta Sliwinska , Monique Coleman, now the Cheapest tickets i can find is $52.50, Ouch

This Weekend in Culture City for weekend of October 9th
Well, the weekend and end of one of the Crazy week ever for this blog sight with Detour Rock city and Metroitime blowout almost coming to blows, "The Muggs" further on the Next Great American Band and i clean up a little bit
after a crazy week what is up for this weekend well let take a look.
Nothing much on Friday the only good gig i can find on Friday Night is the local Psychedelic Rock band The Cetan Clawson Revolution, The band have worldwide attenton back in 2006 after releaseing White Heat and became a hit over in with there blues styling fuse rock, There doing a lot of warm up show for there released of in the early part of 2008 "The Feedback Gospel" they pay the Belmowt in Hamtramck on Friday at with Doors Opening at 9 PM, But if you miss it they will play the Detroit Derby Girls post match gig on Saturday night at the New Dogue Lounge in Hamtramck.
And Speaking about the Detroit Durby Girls, since i have been so busy i have not give a shout out to the Girls on quad rollers Skate and there ready to do match one of the 2007-08 season after getting Celeabarting the DDG Road team Beatting the Las Vegas 129 - 75 in a warm up match back in Oct. now ge ready for the six match regualu season as Pistolwhippers with names like Honey Suckit, Del Bomber, and my presonal fave Cassie Corridor face on the Devil's Night Dames with crazy names like Rock Candy, Crash Baby, and Racer McChaseHer.[Yes we dont make these name up.]

It the weekend in Detroit Rock City and this weekend is a real quite week in the Culture City Calneder begen the weekend after Halloweens, Maybe all are focus on East Lansing as the big Michigan/Michigan State game where they will be a full house at Spartan Stadium as the Maze and blue go in emeny turf as the steal a victory vs the Green and white or if you are reading this blog From East Lansing you may say the Green and white defending the home shed vs the Maze and blue.
this is the one week of the year the Friendship,Married, co-workers are torn of who have the better team Michigan or Michigan State, begging a sports fans growning up i always side to Michigan sometime because Ann Arbor is close to Detroit, and yes there is good news the game will be on regular Free Over the air TV, It will be on ABC at 3:30 PM [WXYZ-TV in Detroit/Ann Arbor or WLAJ-TV in Lansing/East Lansing].
Since there few gig this weekend, a Friendly reminder that show three of "The Next Great American Band" will be on tonight, i Know it is not watch after two weeks and it is a total rating bomb big time, it this was a Boston blog site or a Portland blog site or a Miami Blog site, i would not be talking about it, but there is a Detroit band on the show, i Have to talk about it as "The Muggs" play aging this week after surving this week. This Week In Culture City for the weekend of October 26th[The Friday before Halloween]
Well, it the weekend and it also the weekend before the night of ghost and gooblen which is know as hawlloween and and there is a few holloween gig so let get to it with the 1st gig as sort of night of the living dead.
and for thouse of you who think that the lauger house have close and have gone on to the great stage in the sky i am gald to report that rumor of the club dimise on Michigan Ave. have been greatly exsagrated.
The lauger house did not close but it to have new owners as former owner of Ann Arbor P.J.'s Used Records and bookstore owner George Kelly broght the club that have been a under ground haven for indie rock fans all over and no it is not going to be a jazz club it still going to be home to indie rock and on some occasion with have diffence music in between.
and to celearbart there are hosting what they asking this question "How dose resurrection really feels"?, they will hosttwo night of gigs on night one on Friday the first new bands under new ownership will be the ann arbor band Porchsleeper as well with the wonderfull Folk rock bands Great Lakes Myth Society and the best new band that you have never hear of the one and only Deastro.

The lauger house did not close but it to have new owners as former owner of Ann Arbor P.J.'s Used Records and bookstore owner George Kelly broght the club that have been a under ground haven for indie rock fans all over and no it is not going to be a jazz club it still going to be home to indie rock and on some occasion with have diffence music in between.
and to celearbart there are hosting what they asking this question "How dose resurrection really feels"?, they will hosttwo night of gigs on night one on Friday the first new bands under new ownership will be the ann arbor band Porchsleeper as well with the wonderfull Folk rock bands Great Lakes Myth Society and the best new band that you have never hear of the one and only Deastro.
and on saturday night there will be a Hollween show with Garage Punk bad "The Sillies", there are the only bands on the line-up but there be more just check the laguer houer web sight at www.lagerhousedetroit.com or there my space site at http://www.myspace.com/lagerhouse, and if you want to know The Lager House is Still locate at 1254 Michigan Ave. Between Brooklin and the Lodge Freeway and about a couple of block from the new MGM Grand Cansino and hotel on the western edge of Downtown.
Meanwheild in Ann Arbor, Hometown Powerpop heros Saturday Looks Good to Me return for a hometown show to celeabert the released of the brand new album called "Filled the room" a lot have change since there last album the 2004 "EVERY NIGHT", 1st a couple of key members of the band have move out of detroit including front man Fred Thomas who move to the Indie hub bud of Portland, Oregan and lovely vocalist Betted marie barns move to chicago, but the majoried of the band still live in the city where the unisbeisty of Michigan.

On Saturday at the magic stick it will be like Halloween it will be Zombie Dance Party 4 it detroit rock city version of night of the living dead. the event which is put on by Serenity Court Care Gulfinson and grande nationals bassist Scotty Hagan who also co-owned the BellyAche candy Shopp, the event celeabeat the spook and kooks of halloween with music, costuem, make up,candy and the sickest thing of all if you go out on a date Dinner.
Playing at this year dance party will be 3-D invisibles,The Hentchmen, Troy Gregory and the Stepsisters, Snakeout, The Deadbodies, The Dewtons, not only that it will also serve as the C.D. released party for "The Ghoul's Delight Halloween CD" which is on BellyAche Records, the 2 disc, 31 songs halloween collection feather the delights of The Muldoons, Eons, Serenity Court, The Koffin Kats, The Drinking Problem, Scarlet Oaks, Beggars, Fortune & Maltese and the Phabulous Pallbearers, Ghost City, The Eugene Strobe, The Amano Acids, Aran Ruth, Battling Siki, Dutch Pink and The Pizazz.

This Weekend in Culture City for the weekend of October 19th
Well it the end of a very long week after i got over my thank you and the follow up on the futher of the lager house i can now get back on the business of blogging on what is happening in Detroit rock City, and just in time because i cam to the wright place because tonight full loaded night is Friday Night.
1st we begin with a club in Pontiac and the nearly two months old Crofoot in South Downtown and the return of the a band who last CD released party was mar by that infamous Innocent that almost brought down the Detroit Music Scene All together.
It the return of Balance who next week released there long awaited follow-up album "Little Amber Bottles", the album was support to be released earil this year but was delay after there Former label V2 Records shut down this year, but they found a new label and ready to released there Follow up to the 2004 "If We Can't Trust The Doctors"
Lead by the husband and wife Duo of Dan and Tracee Mae Miller along with Dave Feeny, The Raconteurs "Little" Jack Lawrence and Drummer Lisa "Jaybird" Jannon released there second set alt rock that have a Gothic to them and there live set are really rocking but down home, the New CD also have a guest appercen by Former member of Belle & Sebastian and solo singer Isobel Campbell.
The Doors for the balance Show begin at 8 PM and "Little Amber Bottles" is out this Tuesday.
Down the road in Royal Oak at the Music Theater begin in at 8 PM is a man that will have his Die-hard fans playing anywhere from $51.50 to $77 to see, it the lord almighty, I know what you are thinking God have came down to bless you, no that lord almighty, but the Lord almighty of the manchester music scene in the 80's and the 90's and still going today, The one and only "Morrisery".
The man have done almost everything since he was a front man with the smiths in the 80's and susscful solo career since then if i have time to list his whole carrerd it would take the whole right side of this Menu, but if you want look up his Wikipedia page
The Futher Eruovision Contestant for the UK[it going to happend on day, it will so he take the crownd back to the U.K.] thak the stage at 8 PM.
And Futher down the Road at the one and only Magic Stick,the Louisville, Kentucky base Indie Dance-punk band VHS or Beta who make there Detroit appenced to tour in support for there latest CD which is called "Bring on the Comets" which is the follow up to there break out indie hit called "Night on Fire", i saw there set back in 2004 in the only time i saw a gig in Pontiac as they opeding for the the Von Bondies and the have a fun live set that have the place rocking.
Opening up for VHS and Beta Mas! and the beat kid Deastro the show beging at 8 PM
and speaking about 8 PM before you do any thing tonight, the rock and roll version of the show that I won't cover on this blog sight "American Idol" is Amercan Nexy Great rock band and the reason i bring this up that two bands that i know as i rome around this city "the Muggs" will be on the show and have the detroit rock scene buzzing and they are even in to day Detroit Newsalso on the show will be surband singer who i got to met in the summer Matt Austin.
Now the show will aired at 8 PM on WJBK-TV - FOX 2 in detroit and if you want to root on the Muggs there going be viewing parties at the Cadieux Café located at 4300 Cadieux Road in the east side of Detroit and Small's Bar at 10339 Conant St. in Hamtramck.
and since i am friend with both the web Vomit guy and the fivethree dialtone guy i have to mention this tonight after every thing that when on in detroit rock city there is a post show after hours with Deastro side project Our Brother The Megazord also DJ will be Jim Carroll, Will Yates, Steven Robert and The Count of Montenegro.
it only $3 Dollars cover and it will go from midnight to 5 A.M. and it will go down atThe CAID (Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit) 5141 Rosa Parks Blvd. just off I-94 and just two blocks west off Tom Adams field[Wayne State home football Field].
And on Saturday at the majestick therater is a local all-star benitfit for releif for Sundan which have been ravge by cilive war, playing for the Jam For Sudan with The Sisters Lucas, Sweet Japonic, Zoos of Berlin, The Beggars, The Muldoons, The Hentchmen, The Go the cover for the good cause is $15 and it will start at 7 PM.

This Weekend In Culture City For the Weekend of October 12th
Well it the weekend and i am sorry for the lag in this blog sight after i post my 1,000 post i was not celebrating, i was recovering a little bit from a small dog bite from a boxer, thank god it was not worst or wrost i would be i a hospital just about now.
And Worst yet it happened just as about to get my hair cut wield still impressing the indie ladies, and the only injury i suffering was just scared thank god for that.
Well let see what going on in Detroit Culture City
Well there is nothing going on Friday night, but on Saturday the Local blues rock band "Dutch Pink" will released there New CD called "Idols and Infidels" but for going the route of on big night of indie rock there not playing one venue, Oh, No there not playing Two Venue, but there playing count em Six placed at the same day This little bus tour will last the whole day from Mid-town to New Center to Hamtramck to Frendale, now i don't have the line up of which venue there going play first, but i know in posting the Weekly Gig Guide on Monday i know they hit up the Belmont at about 6 PM but i know the other culb they willm hit up on there bus tour will be old miami in Midtown, northern lights in the New Center, new dodge and painted lady in Hamtramck and woodward avenue brewers on Woodward Ave. in Ferndale.
now they will be Travel by but on for the band and there Gear and a second one will be for there fans who pre-paid to see Dutch Pink for all six placed they played but for fans who just only going for one gig there will be a lot of opener depening on where they playing opening up will be Oscillating Fan Club, jeremiah bazely, ether aura, the makebelieves[athens, ohio],wingman, and duende!

Last July, you saw them played to the massed over at Comerica City Fest and no they released there on a proper club tour as the Austin area band "Spoon" pop up in the area with a show at the majestic Theater in surrport of there well receivd album "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" and Fresh off there appacen on Saturday night live last week.
Opening for them is the urber Chicago indie pop band "The Ponys" Who released "Turn the Lights Out" way back in March, the doors open at 8 PM.
Meanwheild at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor hometown boy "Matthew Dear" come home to play a live set in surrport of a his new album "Asa Breed" on Ghostly International isn which he co-found way back in 1999, also playing the show will be Javelins, 800Beloved, Jeff Owens
And also on sunday at the The Crofoot ballroom i pontaic it the return of the austin base band The Polyphonic Spree as lead man Tim DeLaughter bring his 25+ member band to speer joy and happyness in Pontaic as they played tunes from there latiest album The Fragile Army and also playing tracks from there First two album The Beginning Stages of... and Together We're Heavy, the show beging at 7 PM.
And also i mention this on this sight at the beging of the week so i willl metion this aging this saturday at the Drill hall at the Madsoinc temple Buliding a special edtion of the Detroit Drbuy girls as Druby girls all stars face on the challage by the Sin City Neanderdolls from Las Vegas, you can still get tickets at the 10 local area Meijer Store, Orbitz Hair Salon in Ann Arbor,Danny's Irish Pub in Ferndale, MI, Eternal Tattoo in Clawson. and also there will be enterament by DJs Grimly Fiendish, Elisavet and the Motor City Rah Rahs and there will be a after party at the Old Miami[3930 Cass Ave.] with Broadzilla, Velveteen Rabbit and DJ Tim Tiki

This Weekend in Culture City
Well, it the weekend in Detroit rock city, sorry for last week post i was in a rush to scoreboard last week at a high school game so i did not have time to do the full post last week but i am back with the full post of what is going down gig wise in ther detroit metro area.
Well, tonight at the magic Bag in Frendale, Michigan is what else a CD released gig and it for a R&B singer who have been embrace by the Detroit rock scene it the one and only Nathaniel Mayer who is released Why Don't You Give To Me? which was released back in August, but is getting a released with this night.
Mayer have a hit back in 1962 with "Village of Love" with his backing band "The Fabulous Twilights" and was one of the top selling Band in the Midwest
he when low at the end of the 60's but then made one of those unlikely comeback in 2002 began playing the club and festival gig and he gained a whole new generation of fans with his live gig which include the Detroit rock scene which result in his first released in almost 38 years in 2004 when released "I Just Want to Be Held" on the Fat Possum Records and became a hit among the detroit rock area.
He record the new record with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, Matthey Smith of Outrageous Cherry, Troy Gregory of The Dirtbombs, and Dave Shettler of SSM and The Sights.
S.S.M. and The Meltdowns opening the show and it begin at 8 PM
Meanwhile Nine Mile down Woodward and a left turn on Congress St. at the St. Andrew Hall in Downtown is the veteran Victoria, British Columbia indie band "Hot Hot Heat" who is on tour in support of there new album "Happiness Ltd" which is out since last month.
The Band have been having making music since there first released on SUB POP back in 2001 with Scenes One Through Thirteen and Make Up the Breakdown, but they have a Breakout with 2005 "Elevator" with Span the hit "Middle of Nowhere" and "Goodnight Goodnight" the show begin at 7 PM with Bedouin Soundclash & De Novo Dahl opening up.
and if you are looking for a low cost alternative we have one, tonight at the Peck Park in Detroit[which is located behind the Center for Crated Studies they will show 1924 silent film Die Nibelungen: Siegfried with the score begin perform by a new band called Darling Imperial which include member of other Detroit bands like Capitol Cities, Anadonia, Troy Gregory & The Stepsisters, and The Bonaventures.
The Show will begin at Dusk which will be around 6 or 7 PM, Peck Park is on the corner of Beaubien and Kirby, right behind the CCS parking structure. Take Warren to Brush, head North past the African American Museum and it's 3 blocks on the right and best yet it Free.
On Saturday, there is two gigs worth noting 1st gig will be at the stick where the Lo-fi alturn Country Band "Magnolia Electric Co. Will play there, the band have been around since 1997 as they when nuder the the name Songs: Ohia and is fronted by Jason Molina.
Also playing the show will be the "Watson Twins" who may remember was the back up singer for Jenny Lewis Solo debut "Rabbit Fur Coat" Which was released last year

And On Sunday at the Fabulous Fox Theater in Downtown Detroit, is the long awaited return of the "The Smashing Pumpkins" although not the Full line-up since the last Album Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Musicin in 2000, [M.I.A. James Iha (guitar/vocals), D'arcy Wretzky (bass/vocals)
The Band released there 1st album in almost 7 years back in July with ZEITGEIST the only original member on this tour are the founder of the band Billy Corgan along with Drummers Jimmy Chamberlain and New member Jeff Schroeder (guitar/The Lassie Foundation and The Violet Burning ) and Ginger Reyes (bass/Ginger Sling, the Halo Friendlies, Lo Ball) with keyboard Support from Lisa Harriton
The show will happen at 7:30 PM and ticket are still ablvile

The Live Review
Day Three of the Detour Launch Party
Day Party + BBQ at the C.A.I.D. (Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit)
Night Party at the Magic Stick/Garden Bowl
September 22th
Now the night before i skip night two of the detour party because i went to see the Seattle power pop punk band Ms. Led [Which is led by former Detroitior Lesie Wood] , but what i heard from every body that it was a rucks good time as the Hard Lessons brought there crowd, and the Terrible Twos bring there mayeh as they lead the crowd to crowd surf at the low Ceiling Garden Bowl that some kids where kick out of the stick complex.
and also the Go was also go as they rock the hometown Crowd, and yes some people were asking my friends where was your truly, well i told you on Friday post on night one that i was going to see Ms. Led when i join the band friends list and mention there was playing small a few months ago, so you don't know months in advance who playing where and what day.
unlike the First two night at the Magic Stick Complex there was a Day party and B.B.Q. at the CAID (Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit) which is about two block south of Wayne State u. "Tom Adams Field" on Rosa Parks Blvd between Merrick St. and West Warren Ave. [and it close to 1-94]that where you can enjoy the last real blast of summer before fall come and not only that you can enjoy a nice good BBQ where you can enjoy Rib and and Hot Dogs in that back yard of the CAID with a paining of the mighty Paul Bunyan and Babe the blue Ox on the side of the building looking on.
now the back yard is a very good side backyard with a lot of concert yard peceied and to kill time there was also a little arts and Craft section run by social crafting group called "Loop", which have a Make-n-Take where for a small donation where you can a make a great button.
Now Since i am a big fan of Wayne state football and there was a game at wayne State home field "Tom Adams Fields" [where Wayne state blew 21-10 lead to lose in Overtime 35-28 to Findlay U.]so. i miss the First three bands at the Day party: The Displays, Eons, and Porchsleeper, so i am sorry if miss them and as of this tying no idea how it go so if you where there and want to let the reader how it go you can drop me a email at Culturecitynewstips[at]yahoo[dot]com.
I did arrive at the CAID between 3:30 and 3:45 PM and to my surprised Troy Gregory and the Stepsisters did not play yet, using the Dally in the Alley added the nothing ever start on time in Detroit Culture City, Now this is the first time in about many moths i have seen Tory and the sister, everybody in the band have been busy Troy have been doing his Epic Movie during the summer[Ed Note: i was a Extra during the recent film shoot at the Belmont two weeks ago and yes i do have a couple of lines in it]and the Dirtbombs, Teri Lynn recently got married up north, and Mary Alcie is doing her side project[i don't know what side project, so i sorry that if i don't know].
The Band was really really good despite the long lay off as the band played well played and well sounding 45 mitues set of well know tunes like "Sirens n Stereo's" and “This Very Very Night”, and there was very well received by a fair size crowd.
The Next band was Mason Proper and there were real good which surprise me more and they sounds good, now i must admit some time the band name or what time of music may scared me off but there was no walking out of this one and i glad i did not do this this time the band played a well rounded Experimental pop sound and it a band i would put on your myspace friends list.
Now the back yard was a good ease back setting where it is surround by the street of Detroit and not only that it was also a very nice summer like day, i talk to a lot of friends that i know including the Publisher Anthony Morrow, Critic-at-large
Johnny Loftus, and Promotions Manager Dawn Wegner, and yes i saw the usual suspect and there was some artist who capture the seen like a very nice girl i met who move recently from San Francsio name Katie who was making small note pad of of bands that were playing there.
back to the bands The High Strung played a nice set of there low key mellow set as they as they about go on tour for there latest released called "Get the Guest".
Now the band Lee Marven computer Arm was support to play Detour but pulled out at the last minute, so who would you get for a last minutes gig,you get The Nice Device
and when you get The Nice Device, you can not mention the Poster Girl of all of culture city the retty girl in all of Detroit rock and roll Alicia Gbur and she look so great and so fit, no wonder Jason Stollsteimer hired her for keyboard in the Von Bondies for the new album in February ‘Love, Hate and Then There’s You’.
now i was in the back so i did not go up close in the tent to protect them for the sun and any rain storms but the band sound so great as they play for almost about a hour and Alicia voicial is so growing so Strong and so sweet that would make a perfit fit in the scene.
Oh, one more thing just to mention to myself and to the male readership of this blog, Yes Alicia Gbur does have a boyfriend who also play in the nice device, just so you know.
the day was winding down at the CAID when the last band of the day S.S.M. return to a Detroit area stage for the 1st time since last spring, they be hard at work since recording the follow up to last year Culture City Festive 50 - Local 25 winning CD "Alive" not only that there lead singer Matt "Monther" Morris was nowhere to be found as he relax down in Nashville.[and if you are wondering no he did not see Jack White]
the band of Morris, John Szymanski, and David Shettler was really good even the new song they which i don't know the title to any of the song that play and they played some of the famlder song like "2012" and Marty look total difference he grow his hair out mean that he ready for album number two.
the event ended at about just shortly before 9 P.M. and that mean we head on over to part two of the last night of the Detour party at the stick and i got to tell you it was a fun time although i was a little tried and it was be going to show.
the first band i saw was the well name punk band called The Hadituptoheres[Yes Friend all one word] and they were really good my first time seeing them.
also i went back Downstairs in the garden bowl to see The Mahonies a very good band.
also i saw some good perfrom from Freer, THTX, and bulldogs but to tell you the turth i was beging to get a little bit tired during the return of Ko and the knockiut which did knock me out big time.
but it was whort menting that The Ko and the knock out gig was the 1st time ever in about five year and Ko did a good job of singing her old song aging and yes she did as always she look up to the ceiling wheil playing the Guitar so it was great to see Ko back in the fold, but like i said i was so tried i did not go to the after party at the CAID because i was so tried and wipe out at the same
So overall the whole three day weekend was a great sussce for De-tour and there web-sight and i hoped they do well for years to come.

the event ended at about just shortly before 9 P.M. and that mean we head on over to part two of the last night of the Detour party at the stick and i got to tell you it was a fun time although i was a little tried and it was be going to show.
the first band i saw was the well name punk band called The Hadituptoheres[Yes Friend all one word] and they were really good my first time seeing them.
also i went back Downstairs in the garden bowl to see The Mahonies a very good band.
also i saw some good perfrom from Freer, THTX, and bulldogs but to tell you the turth i was beging to get a little bit tired during the return of Ko and the knockiut which did knock me out big time.
but it was whort menting that The Ko and the knock out gig was the 1st time ever in about five year and Ko did a good job of singing her old song aging and yes she did as always she look up to the ceiling wheil playing the Guitar so it was great to see Ko back in the fold, but like i said i was so tried i did not go to the after party at the CAID because i was so tried and wipe out at the same
So overall the whole three day weekend was a great sussce for De-tour and there web-sight and i hoped they do well for years to come.

The Live Review
Day One of the Detour Launch Party
Magic Stick/Garden Bowl
September 20th
well, after a few days of trying to do a blog sight and a few days in doing a side job, this blog sight is a little bit out of wack so i have not done anything on the blog sight including finish the dally in the alley story from almost two weeks ago and still recover from the Rilo Kiely show back on Monday, so since i do a blog sight on a almost daily based, i was thinking why not why not go to gig at the home base of indie rock[No disrespect to the folks at the Crofoot, but i will go to it one day] to celebrate the launch of a new blog sight that have been up since June called Detour Magazine
Now Detour is a local Base on-line zine that fouce on underground indie pop culture that look at music, movie, TV and not only that do live reviews of shows in the detroit area and sometime they do odd ball stuff like Tv Show into.
and this is now rookie blogger here most ot the staff at Detour used to work at the metro times, including Anthony Morrow[Publisher]and the one and only Johnny Loftus[Critic-at-Large]so why not let every body know about the sight by take a page out the metro times notebook and do a Three day party at the stick complex with all the best band from inside there 313 and out side the 313.
Now since i stay home to watch the return of Keith Olbermann[who miss half of this week recovering for a Burst appendix last weekend, don't worried he OK] and i left the house at 9 P.M. and did not arrived at the stick until 10:00 PM so i miss the first band of the night[Child Bite], i spend almost 15 minutes catching up with people i have not see in a wield.
So i went down stairs at the Garden Bowl where they have a small stage next to the bowling alley and i saw the first band of the night the Noise bands "Heroes & Villains" and i got to tell you it was loud i have to go to the restroom to put on my earplug, because that was noised that remind you of "Sonic Youth" they have a good old film in the background it was beautiful nosic at it best.
The Next band that i have not seen in a wheild because of other project the one and only "The Sights" and they was very good after the long lay-off as the band of the one and only Eddie Baranek, Bobby Emmett and Current drummer Rick Fox and there were good the only song i can reconge for that set was "I'm Gonna Live The Life I sing About In My Song" From the last C.D. but there was good.
I went back down Siarts back the Garden Bowl and check out a Drum and programmable set from "Deastro" and he was really good as Randy Chabot who is the madman behind "Deastro" as he Play Drums and program the backing tracks and not onyl that also sing and and it was a very good set that was watch by me, Japer, the Web Vomit guy, and the Editor of Fivethreedialtone guy, yes folks three well know blogger all in the same room at the same time as all three was moving out of the way as they move around form the care to the bar and to the stick and not only that meting some friend and a cool Friend who she used to live in hamtramck and her name is Alex i just want to say hi Alex.
But it did get real Crazy back in the stick, Oh yes it did get crazy at the stick as a kid from Milwaukee called Juiceboxxx as i listen to the First few beat and the few 1st words i say to myself oh my god i would not like this i go down sitars and check out the midnight band at Garden Bowl["Odd Clouds"] but this kid have some talent he did not stay on the stage he was moving around the Stage outside the stage as he was scearming dancing around all over the stick, not only that he was dancing table he even climb both Speakers as he seaming raps all night long i never have this much fun folling the action since the Woggles did a fanatic show at smalls 2004 and that too was a fun and Crazy show as well.
he let me tell you that kid have some heavy talent big time.
after seeing what was a 20-minutes of nutty Sceamo Rap, i went back down stairs to see the local sonic Nosie band "Odd Clouds who had a very special guest mr. every thing in Detroit Music the one and only Mattew Smith and he Join in the Sonic Adventher that is Odd Clouds, and they was very loud and smooth for the 20 Mintues i saw them as they seard there way to the crowd at the stick.
But, i went back upstairs and if you think Juiceboxxx was the warm up, well Bonde Do Role was one crazy party, the Hip Pop funk pop band from all away from Brazil was so much fun to watch as DJ Rodrigo Gorky provide all the all the spin to lead singers and M.C. Pedro D'Eyrot and Marina Vello to have some fun and get the crown into it and i go to tell the female voice of the band is one of the most Petty ladie to see rock out at the Stick so far as she jump around even pulling a member of the audience on stage for a little sing-along and yes she did go in to the crowd to dance to the crowd not and only that sing up close to one member of the and i was so close to the action.
So over all it was a good show all around a little bit of home, a little bit of Crazy rap, a little noise to your life and to wrap it up a little rock n roll
wow it a good time worth wring about on Detour!

This Week In Culture City - For the Weekend of Setember 21st to the 23rd
It the weekend and i know normal i post this on a Friday but the event that i am going to start tonight so that why i am posting this on a Thursday to let you know about the Detour Magazine Launch party that is happing tonight at the Stick complex.
I know what are you saying what is Detour?, Detour is a Detroit Base On-line Magazine that fouce on Pop Culture and that a look at music, Movies, pop culture News puls they also have review of live shows, and other stuff about the indie scene.
there is a good team at Detour which is made mostly of people who used to work at Detroit Atl. News Weekly The Metrotimes which is head up by Anthony Morrow and head writer the one and only Johnny Loftus, you can find Detour on-line right Now at http://detour-mag.com, where it have a preview which have a three Day Launch Party that is spread over three days at the Stick complex at the magic Stick and the Garden Bowl with a BBQ on Saturday afternoon at the C.A.I.D
among the bands that will be on hand for the three day Launch shiw will be Child Bite,Heroes & Villains,The Sights, Deastro, Juiceboxxx, Odd Clouds, Serenity Court, Fontana,Johnny Headband, Carjack, The Hard Lessons, Terrible Twos, The Go, The Displays, Eons, Porchsleeper, Troy Gregory and the Stepsisters, Mason Proper,The High Strung, The Nice Device, S.S.M., The Hadituptoheres, The Mahonies, Freer, T.H.T.X., Ko And The Knockouts, The Frustrations, Bulldogs, Charlie Slick, and thew head line for tonight will be Brazil band Bonde Do Role.

the most important gig on the same night will be a local Film at the Detroit Film Theater called A Detroit thing. film directed by Anthony Brancaleone looks at a real life fairytale of working bands in Detroit. The film follows the parallel lives of several musicians, including Kid Rock and Tino of the Howling Diablos as they gig their way to the top of the local rock scene.
And when the labels come looking for the next big thing they bring with them not only the answer to these dreams but a reminder: For every band that gets signed there are a thousand that won't.
The film features music from Detroit bands including the Howling Diablos, Kid Rock, Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise, Queen Bee, PS I Love You, Stun Gun, Twistin' Tarantulas, Isabella Starfudge, Trash Brats, Ebeling Hughes, Cobra Youth and Medusa Cyclone.
It covst $10 dollars to get in to see but Get there early because it going to be a Sell out. my best best to call the D.I.A. too see if they have tickets.
not much show happending over the weekend but i have a few shows that is happen also this weekend over at small in Hamtramck Ether Aura will play a show there but you might want to check out the opening band from Seattle, Was and it called Ms. Led it is a wonder full band that mix Power pop with a little punk attitude it is very good the show begin at 9 P.M.
the Michigan Theater have good show this weekend Ryan Adams and the Cardinals is playing on Saturday Night and the always touring always releasing Ani DiFranco
who on Tour promoting her 17th album [yes count them 17th almbum] Canon which was release two week ago, she is playing on Sunday Night.
and if you want a gig beyond the week end, it this monday night at St. Andrew Hall in Downtown Detroit as the Super rock band "Metic" Fronted by Emily Haines who opening up on her solo released last year with "Knives Don't Have Your Back" and not only that you can also get there 1st ever released they did back in 1999, but it was shelf for "Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?", it was quiet released in June and it called "Grow up and Blow Away".
the show will beging at 8 Pm with the Doors open at 7 P.M.
