This Week In Culture City - For the Weekend of Setember 21st to the 23rd

It the weekend and i know normal i post this on a Friday but the event that i am going to start tonight so that why i am posting this on a Thursday to let you know about the Detour Magazine Launch party that is happing tonight at the Stick complex.

I know what are you saying what is Detour?, Detour is a Detroit Base On-line Magazine that fouce on Pop Culture and that a look at music, Movies, pop culture News puls they also have review of live shows, and other stuff about the indie scene.

there is a good team at Detour which is made mostly of people who used to work at Detroit Atl. News Weekly The Metrotimes which is head up by Anthony Morrow and head writer the one and only Johnny Loftus, you can find Detour on-line right Now at http://detour-mag.com, where it have a preview which have a three Day Launch Party that is spread over three days at the Stick complex at the magic Stick and the Garden Bowl with a BBQ on Saturday afternoon at the C.A.I.D

among the bands that will be on hand for the three day Launch shiw will be Child Bite,Heroes & Villains,The Sights, Deastro, Juiceboxxx, Odd Clouds, Serenity Court, Fontana,Johnny Headband, Carjack, The Hard Lessons, Terrible Twos, The Go, The Displays, Eons, Porchsleeper, Troy Gregory and the Stepsisters, Mason Proper,The High Strung, The Nice Device, S.S.M., The Hadituptoheres, The Mahonies, Freer, T.H.T.X., Ko And The Knockouts, The Frustrations, Bulldogs, Charlie Slick, and thew head line for tonight will be Brazil band Bonde Do Role.

the most important gig on the same night will be a local Film at the Detroit Film Theater called A Detroit thing. film directed by Anthony Brancaleone looks at a real life fairytale of working bands in Detroit. The film follows the parallel lives of several musicians, including Kid Rock and Tino of the Howling Diablos as they gig their way to the top of the local rock scene.

And when the labels come looking for the next big thing they bring with them not only the answer to these dreams but a reminder: For every band that gets signed there are a thousand that won't.

The film features music from Detroit bands including the Howling Diablos, Kid Rock, Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise, Queen Bee, PS I Love You, Stun Gun, Twistin' Tarantulas, Isabella Starfudge, Trash Brats, Ebeling Hughes, Cobra Youth and Medusa Cyclone.

It covst $10 dollars to get in to see but Get there early because it going to be a Sell out. my best best to call the D.I.A. too see if they have tickets.

not much show happending over the weekend but i have a few shows that is happen also this weekend over at small in Hamtramck Ether Aura will play a show there but you might want to check out the opening band from Seattle, Was and it called Ms. Led it is a wonder full band that mix Power pop with a little punk attitude it is very good the show begin at 9 P.M.

the Michigan Theater have good show this weekend Ryan Adams and the Cardinals is playing on Saturday Night and the always touring always releasing Ani DiFranco
who on Tour promoting her 17th album [yes count them 17th almbum] Canon which was release two week ago, she is playing on Sunday Night.

and if you want a gig beyond the week end, it this monday night at St. Andrew Hall in Downtown Detroit as the Super rock band "Metic" Fronted by Emily Haines who opening up on her solo released last year with "Knives Don't Have Your Back" and not only that you can also get there 1st ever released they did back in 1999, but it was shelf for "Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?", it was quiet released in June and it called "Grow up and Blow Away".

the show will beging at 8 Pm with the Doors open at 7 P.M.
