The Metrotimes Hamtramck Blowout
Night 1 Recap
Blow Out Pre-Party
March 7th, 2007

well last night was a cold night as always in early march it, at least it did not snow all night because there was no snow, but i know it was going to warm up inside with all the great music with a slight chill between the stick and the big stage [AKA going between stick and and Majestic] , it was the 8th year for the pre-blowout party, the six year with live music and the 5th year for the Per show at the stick complex for a showcase gig the have grow five times since4 that 1st year in 1998 where it have 6 venues with 72 bands over 2 night [this year have 20 venues with 250 bands over 4 night.

got there at 7:45 PM and i know i would met almost everybody, the first people i saw was Brandon and Andrew of the display we talk also i saw Augie of the hard lesson and saw all the people from the metro times from Anthony morrow the guys who put up the blow out and the pretty Booker for the blow [sorry guys she already taking] also i saw one half of smoke break and the MT Music editor the one and only and just got a good clean cut Johnny Loftus and a lot of friend who i saw thought out the year at music gig all year round [and sorry i for got your names because i went to sleep last night came home at 3:15 AM and have no time to do a report last night].

before the show there was plenty of active before the blow out Dorkwave was still setting up there with a little puzzle poster behind the front entanc of the stick poster of Pablo Escabat, Jonh Amchied and Bo Dereck, what did they have in common i did not solve it because i was roaming around the stick complex.

When to the big stage and check out a Scion tC car in the front of the stick theater as Scion have there visual cars for the surband Detroit Scion Dealers and i saw my friends for the rock and rummage sale as Casey and Beth was selling there old school wears to the rock and roll crowds Wilde over at the stick the stick bands of the muggs and the slient years was selling there CD and T-shirts wield the very lovely handmade Detroit crew of Carrie [who was feather in the back pages of MT this week]Lish, and early friend of the blog sight Stephanie, also Liz from thophy wife clothing was also selling her t-shirts as well as i told her she remind me of Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley.

After almost two hours of taking note here and there with no music there was music to be have in culture city as at 10:12 PM there was music as the Great Lakes Myth Society took the stage as they play there rocking folk which pretty much ramp up the crowd into year ten of the blowout i saw them play half the set and then i rush upsair to see the last two songs "The Satin Peaches" and they warm the crown as well after that i thought because before the the first band played at the theater it was almost half full and i thought there is no way i would get in to see "The Hard lessons" because there one of the hottest band in all of Detroit.

But i did get in to Detroit fave three pieces band and they play a lot of old stuff and a lot of new stuff which one fan told me it is the tightest that have ever seen in years, there lead singer Augie was on with the crowd as Ko-Ko Louise[who strike a new dark hair do] and the Anvil keep on banging the beats as the band played what was one of there of the best Detroit gig they every played as they played if you feel alright they have two dress owl tell in the crowd if you feel alright, there set tonight was feenomall as they now set there sight on SXSW.

I try to run to back to the stick to see THE SILENT YEARS but when i got up there, i thought they just finish so i ram around back at the handmade Detroit booth until i really the the band was still playing, so since i miss a lot of there set i ask around and some fans told me there was good some some say they was great and some body told me that they describe there sound as Radiohead v.s.Wilco.

So with a lot of time to kill i walk around the stick waiting for the talking the bartender and hanging out in the back of the stick untill 12:15 as the muggs channel there inter led zeppelin as tony and Danny muggs played there brand of rock and Soul to a very full crowd, I stick around for about five or six song until i went down the theater to see the last band of the night at the theater and it was kind of special as for the 1st time i got to see the husband and wife duo which was Adult. which was fun, which was good, which was rocking, which was hards and which was Loud, Very, Very Loud i say for about a good half a hour until i say i need a rest for my ears so i went back to see the tale end of the muggs set.

and in between the set i check out the Dorkwave dance party they have a good set up and they have the crow dancing and they did have a good set of to the only one i remember was "materials issues" into the one and only "verruca salt"

So night one fo the blowout is in the books and it was a succfully lanuch to the 10 blow out and now it on to hamtown because there about 244 bands to go.
