The Metrotimes Hamtramck Blowout

The Metrotimes Hamtramck Blowout
The 4th and Final Night - Is It two yet! or is it three
March 10th

it was andoure busy day at culture city HQ, i was typing up Friday night report and was buzy getting this done before i do Night Number four, The Final Night of the hamtramck blowout and it was such a night day in Detroit i did the right thing, i took a walk around town which did and i decide to take a early trip to the main shopping dictect Jos. Campue where there was special events before the last night of the blowout.

First i went to a Small indie Craft fair at The Art Factory where merchant where sell there art and Jewelry to the fans who came early, Me not a big Art and Craft Fan but it was some thing to around hamtramck, Whiled there i show one of the co-owners name nate [who also work on soundboard at shows] my blog sight with all the reports i have done so far.

Then after that i went to the near by Detroit Threads to check out a Free Fashion show but i got there a little to early the fashion show did not begin until 8 P.M., Ouch!, but i did check out a lager collection of used C.D. and Music D.V.D. and they have a good collection so if you ever in hamtramck, do go to Detroit Threads and pick up a used C.D. or if you a D.J. they have a lot of vinley.[Oh! i did when back a little bit later that night, and the fashion show on friday night was much better that the one on Saturday night].

Then i went up the road and turn right a i look at a clear sky at sunset on Holbrook as i went to a art opending/Skectpad drawing at a really good coffehouse called the Cafe 1923 and it was crowed for a local art opening put on by
Hatch, The Hamtramck's arts collective it have some good art work there and there was almost 20 artist doing a Burlesque Drawing which was very fun to look of a beautiful model who was Dress up as a butterfly and was great to see.

By 8:45 after a couple of speeches from the Co Founder of H.a.t.c.h., i went to my first gig of the night and it was to the Holbrook Cafe to see the Expatriates only one problem it did not get started until 10 P.M. oops!, so i took the long walk to the place i been at the last three days the Knights of Columbus and when to the Lounge area to see "The Smashing Windows" they really impress the early crowd with there loud low-fi sound witch feather Hunter Muldoon of "The Muldoons behind the drums backing up Joey Goddeeris on keys and Vocals and keyboard and Phil Red on Gitars, they was really good and really on tonight.

then i took a very, very long walk to the Record Graveyard where they have a solo set by Danny dollrod but he went on second because he have a opener for the night and it was the person who i was going to see on Thursday Night, Human Eye Timmy Vulgar who played a very good rocking set with the help of Sean Elwood of Outrageous Cherry and i got to tell you Timmy was one hell of a singers playing his solo set, which was very good.

But i did not stck around, after that gig i went back to the holbrook hoping to see the first band of the night "The Expatriates" well when i drop back at the holdbrook there was still nothing going on, so i went all the way to the New Dodge Lounge in the Southern portion of the city to see "The Display" who ask me to see there show alot of times before the blowout, so i went to show and they put up a good show with there indie Garage style with could spell trouble for other bands at the Detroit News Battle of the bands and near the end of there set the boys were join by the smashing windows who took the same short ride as me.

After there set i went back to the holbrooks and finally see "The Expatriates" and i got to see there last song of there set, ouch! but there last shog was good, so i stuck around during the long intermission and waited and waited for the next act during that time i meet Steve Nawara Who must be proud of this weekend as it was a showcase for his new imprint "The Beehive Record Company", also i saw the lovely miss "Aran Ruth" Who Look very lovely on Saturday night.

after the long wait, "The boy who invented rap..." esQuire play his always entertaining set with his main D.J. with him M.C. D.J. Dviant and as always grooving with him is Aphrodite and his new back up dancer who i cant remember her name [i soory for that] as he play his classic like "Brandy and Xanax" and "spin the bottle" and got the crowd grooving, I left before there set and went back to Kelly bar down the road and i thought in seeing the Schedule, i was going to see the fun collage indie band "The Recital" but but i saw the wrong "The Recital" the band that played the kelly bar was called "The Gentlemanly of the recital" my bad of not engoth description.

So i drank some water and check out the Late CBC "Hockey Night In Canada" Match up [Tampa Bay vs Calgary with Tampa Bay won 3-2 in Overtime}and when back to the Holbrook Cafe and see one band who i follow for a long time "Slumber Party" as they played songs from there latest album "musik" and a other sone from there past albums and they sound very great with there meloy shoegazing sound with a very good back ground.

And After that i went ti the K of C for the Final time during the blowout where i say a band who have not seen i a wield because they been rocking out all over the country "Thunderbirds Are Now!" as they played there first single we win [wa wa]as they hype the Crowd in the K of C as they played songs from there album "Justamustache!" and "Make History" it was the last song in there main set where they ask the crowd to joined them on stage about 15 to 20 people [including this blogger] jump on the stage and was rocking out th the title track from "Make Histroy", the crazy part of the set was near the end of the song somebody during the set was standing on my shoulder whict was stanges to say the leased.

I did stick around for a coulpe of songs and then i went back to the "Holbrook" to see the last band of the blowout "Troy Gregory And The Stepsisters" and they was very very good there was going to played thought 2:30 AM but somebody told them the it was Daylight Saving Time which go into effect at 2 A.M.

So the 72 Plus Hours of up and down road madness of the Hamtramck Blowout i hoped you have a great time folling the blowout like i did and i can't wait to do it aging next year.

As for me i am tried of walking up and down. and now i need some rest.

The End.
