UPDATE #2 - 11:31 PM: the Tennessean News Paper in Nashville have more of the story:
Link to the story
Few Highlights from The tennessean:
But in downtown Nashville tonight, Jack revealed that he’s piled a few more huge endeavors on his plate. His brand-new band, The Dead Weather, played its first show at the invitation-only opening of White’s new Third Man Records building, which will serve as the headquarters for his record label and house a record store, photo studio and performance stage.
“This band is the first project to come out of this new system, which is our new studio in town and this building,” White said before playing a copy of the band’s debut album, Horehound, for guests.
“If one of the bands working here says, ‘Jack, there’s a great band that played at the End on Friday night, you should check these guys out,’ Saturday morning, they can come to Third Man Studios and we can cut a couple of songs. They can come back to the photo studio and we can take a photo of them. We can cut the acetate and run it down the block, and within three weeks, we can have a thousand copies of a 45 that they can sell at shows.”
The band performed for a room full of fans, friends and industry insiders that included Sheryl Crow and Martina McBride.
and the Third Man Records have a web site as well:
http://www.thirdmanrecords.com
From the web site:
Third Man Records, the imprint on which Jack White releases all of his music including The White Stripes and The Raconteurs, now has a physical location in downtown Nashville. White's new Third Man Records building serves as the company HQ and houses the label's offices plus a vinyl record store, photo studio, dark room and performance stage.
In celebration of the building's opening, the label’s newest rock outfit, The Dead Weather, delivered their first public performance with a set including songs from their forthcoming album, Horehound. The band, fronted by Alison Mosshart (known to music fans as one half of The Kills) includes The Raconteurs' Jack Lawrence on bass, Dean Fertita from Queens Of The Stone Age on guitar and Jack White on drums and vocals. In addition to playing, White also served as producer on Horehound. Recording took place earlier this year in just three weeks at the newly constructed Third Man Studio, designed from the ground up by White. Third Man plans a June release for the album.
Around 150 fans, family and friends attended the Third Man Records grand opening event and exchanged their letter-pressed invitations for limited edition 7" vinyl pressings of The Dead Weather's debut single "Hang You From The Heavens" (b/w a stealth cover of Gary Numan's "Are Friends Electric?"). The Dead Weather hand painted each of the 150 7" records that also included a different photo booth strip of the band members. Downloads of these two songs are now available exclusively through iTunes.

BREAKING CULTURE NEWS - UPDATE
THE NEW MUSIC SHOW ON WDET
WILL BE ON THE WEEKEND ONLY
here is a update to a story broke last night
on the Detroit news web site and posted on this site last night
it was the story about some sort of music coming back to WDET with
the hire of former WDET-FM DJ Ann Delisi our hope in culture it would be a daily
thing i hate to disappointed you fans
from the Press Released i read she will be on the Weekend only, the show will be called "Ann Delisi's Essential Music." and it will be aired for noon to 4 PM begin February 28th.
the show is what is begin called be GM J. Mikel Ellcessor Ann's new show will be a fun, contemporary and thoroughly hand-picked approach to music that moves Detroit," said Ellcessor. "Ann will guide us through the essential music, both new and familiar, that's shaping our culture and will feature music Made in Detroit every hour
that is the only music show added to the line-up the rest of the change on the weekday line are two new news talk show on that mirror "BBC World have your say" which lasted only a year in 2006 called "On Point" that will aired from 10 AM and a two hours news show called "The Takeaway" which aired for two hour from 8-10 AM meaning "Morning Edition" will aired three hours in stead of four hours.
"Detroit Today" the all local news show will move to a time slot TBA
MY TAKE: after reading the press released you can say i am a little bit disappointed it not a Monday Thu Friday gig, but don't be surprise if this becoming a slow process, hey Ann Delisi is a start for once but how are you going to ask listener to listen to a show on the slowest day of the week which is the weekend.
i think people at DET not getting the message that where all news format with the same news on 20 sourced you hear all day, but have any one seen the rating for the whole all-NPR line-up in the last rating book it a 0.9, and not to get down on the head-up at DET don't forget the weak ecomiced is still a factory.
and one more thing not to knock Ann Delisi, she is a good host who been in the scene for a long time and was really good what she did at WDET.CIDR,and as of late WRCJ and most of us remember her as host of backstage pass one of the best show to air in the 90's, but like i said having her back to do a show on a station so off the beaten path it a start.
Let me know what you think, drop me a line or at my e-mail address on the left side.
And here is the press released from PR Newswire

EXCLUSIVE
THE GORIES ARE REUNITING
WILL TOUR IN 2009

Tonight after i did my live local blog of the 2nd presendisal debate i went to the Belmont in hamtramck to see some band and i found the one man who i did not expect to see there it was the Readies front man Dan Kroha and it have to ask him about a rumour that have been hitting the message board last week and was pick up by fivethree dial tone and the metro times music blog
and was confirm tonight when Kroha told me that Detroit Original garage rock band "the Gories" are getting back together aging and will go on tour in the spring or early summer 2009.
the reunion will include all three Original of the band Guitarist Mick Collins, Dan Kroha and drummer Peg O'Neil, what Kroha did tell me that both Mick and Peggy did patch things up during talks off reuniting for the 1st time since 1992 after six years together but mick and Peggy had a major falling out and became the biggest breakup in Detroit rock history
it was so painful neither Mick or Peggy would not talk about the break up, but in the last year thing was Begin to cool, i should know last year at friend birthday party at the Old Miami in Mid-town Detroit i did saw both mick and Peggy talking to each other at the party, it was real cool to see.
the talk about the Gories reunion began almost two weeks ago when Reigning Sound mainman Greg Cartwright posted a simple confirmation on the Goner Records message board that the Gories would re-unite for two U.S. shows this summer with fellow rockers "the Oblivians" and they would be playing two show, one in Detroit, one in the "the Oblivians" hometown of Memphis and a two weeks in Europe.
The story went un-noteice untill it was posted on the Fivethree Dial Tone blog site and the pick up by the Metrotimes web site
The story was confirm on the official my space site [http://www.myspace.com/therealgories] post here. , the big question now is where in Detroit will the gories will played?
will it be at the stick
will it be at the crofoot
will it be at the magic bag
will it be at st. Andrew Hall
or will it be at the Larger House.
or will be at a venue we don't know
it will be a long wait when know where the Detroit show will be playing.
Stay tune and plug in.

Breaking Culture News
RAID IN THE CAID UPDATE
CHARGED HAVE BEEN DROP ON 116 PEOPLE
IN THE RAID IN THE CAID
it had been a few months since we heard anything about the now infamous May 31st Raid at the Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit (CAID) , which have been now know as the Raid in the CAID.
But today there was some good news
Charges against 116 people who came to the funk night gig and was booked for “loitering" during a all night police raid on May 31st have been drop.
this was according to a press released by the Michigan ACLU, Kary L. Moss, ACLU of Michigan Executive Director said “The Detroit police went too far and it is to the credit of the City of Detroit that they have agreed to drop the charges against these young people who did nothing illegal,”, “For years, we have been alarmed by masked police officers in commando outfits and guns drawn needlessly storming peaceful gatherings in Detroit. We encourage the city to take the next step to fix this unconstitutional ordinance and put an end to this practice once and for all.”
the story behind the scene that in August the ACLU of Michigan filed a brief in 36th District Court downtown Detroit to dismiss the charges against Michael White who was at the CIAD that Night and about 115 people who was also charge of loitering was put on Hold pending the white case.
how ever there was about 130 people charge as well but there is charges pending against handful of CAID employees, some of whom were charged because they allegedly worked as bouncers or served alcohol at the CAID that night and also awaiting a court date.
This all stem from the a police raid at the Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit which is on Detroit West Side when about two dozen Detroit Police officers stormed into the CAID at 2:2o AM on May 31st and ordered all patrons to lie face down, including those who were outside on the back patio. many who was there that night was also beat up when they was ask questions.
the raid took all night as they question almost everyone who was there that night with the last question at about 6 A.M. and worst yet there cars was towed so they have no way to get home and go stuck there.
so you wondering what going to happened now that charges as now drop.
What will happened to people who got there cars towed?
i was talking to my law moles and they told they can not get there money back, but can sue the city for damages for the raid.
Will the CAID sue the Detroit Police?
i will say it may be possible, in the Press released the ACLU Michigan did mention that Detroit Police violated the patrons' Fourth Amendment rights because the police did not have probable cause to believe that any individual patron was violating the ordinance at the time of their arrest.
so it May be possible the CAID can sue, and the people who got there cars towed may sued to get back the feeds they paid to get there cards back, which for some report cost $900.
And What will become of the members only late night gig at the CAID
Well nobody know about that after the raid they stop doing the after hours gig after the gig expect the dates that already book but will they do them again Who Know
like Aaron Timlin told me over the phone late this afternoon "Were not affied to dance all night" and he also told me that they are planing a Halloween funk night party
Now i have link the press released on the bottom and not only that

Break Culture news Up-date
The Bohemian National Home Update
Here is a update on a story
that broke out all over the culture Scene this week
Now as you all know this week the Owner of the "The Bohemian National Home" [Which is on 3009 Tillman, about a block north off of Michigan Ave.] announced that they will not be hosting any more show and it would be closing after this month.
now at the time the owner did bot say any thing of why there are closing
but i received a post on my space from windy from the noise band Windy and Carl
and we received more to the story it basic say that the original owner of the building repossessed from owner Joel Peterson and going to change into a get ready to this "a nightclub/event center" and the original owner have rename the building The BO House.
in the post Windy blame The owner of riping off Peterson and trying to profit off the new tax break for movie coming into Michigan bringing there stars in to town.
meanwhile the Original owner have set up a new myspace page under the page The BO HOUSE and clam on there Front page "THE BO-HOUSE rebirth is going to bring something new and needed to the Detroit Music and Culture snece"
so the big question is Joel Peterson begin kick out because of somebody else or or is the culture sence begin the change for the better
in the mean time show that were going to held at The Bohemian National Home will take
place at the CAID A.K.A. Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit on 5141 Rosa Parks, just North of Warren just west off Wayne state.
Those show will be:

10/11 - Eric Vloeiman's Fugimundi
10/12 - Shelly Short/Alexis Gideon

there is more to this story
so keep in touch with this story
it warming up.
The Post From Wendy from Myspace:
okay -
so i hear the gloves are off......
i'll be polite, but informative.
joel peterson has been running the Bohemian National Home out of a building on tillman for a number of years now. he has brought amazing musicians to town, and hosted shows no one else would dare touch. he's had experimental music fests, folk fests, psychedelic music nights, movie nights, and most importantly, the improvised jazz fests.
joel is doing all this in a community with very little money. we all know detroit is tired and worn out. we know the suburbs are tired, too, and it gets harder each month to get people into the city as times get tougher.....it's easier to stay home and watch tv. we ALL know, we ALL do it. make the choice to stay home.
but i would bet each one of us still gets a starbucks coffee or taco bell at least once a week......and that $5 could be used to see a show that joel is putting on!!
yeah, why am i ranting like this? why am i raking you over the coals? because the bohemian national home as we know it is no more. the building is being repossessed by it's original owner, and being turned into a "nightclub / event center". we've all heard about the tax breaks michigan is giving to hollywood movie companies as a way to drawn them into the state to film. well, THE BO HOUSE, as the "new"owners are calling it, is not The Bohemian National Home. and the bo house has set up a new myspace page where they are trying to claim a "rebirth" of the facility with new managment, and trying to get all kinds of detroit bands and peeps to sign up as their friends and book events there.
in short, someone else is trying to PROFIT from the years of hard work and extreme love joel put into that building. the thousands of hours of plaster work and paint and wood repair. the patience and dilligence of setting up shows and seeing each one of them through to the end, even if only 5 people came to be in the audience.
so, joel is keeping the name THE BOHEMIAN NATIONAL HOME. and we are asking you to support him in any way you can. please visit his myspace page and send him words of encouragement, and find out when and where all of the upcoming, rescheduled shows are happening.
http://www.myspace.com/bohemiannationalhome
and tell every band you know that there IS a difference btwn joel's bohemian national home and the imposters who are trying to pull in the movie star crowd ........support joel and his endevours. there are not so many people in detroit who care as much as he does, who work as hard as he does.
thanks. and here is a current list of the shows that have been rescheduled at the CAID. thanks caid for stepping up when we all need you!! some other shows may be at the mocad, the ufo factory, and maybe even a small one or two here at stormy. we are a community who can pull through this - be strong with us!! make a difference.

Breaking Culture News
We Have two Breaking Culture City News Story
BREAKING NEWS ONE
THE BO HOUSE CLOSED
Tonight i receive a E-mail From The Bohemian National Home on Detroit West side
and it tell the following:
Some of you already know, but for reasons we can't disclose, The Bohemian National Home is closed at 3009 Tillman. Although this is an unfortunate situation, we are undeterred in presenting the finest and most unusual musical offerings in town. For now, Andy Krieger's art show this Friday will be the last event at 3009 Tillman.
[I.E. The Bo house will be close after this Friday gig.]
Until things get settled, shows will continue at Detroit's finer venues that have offered their assistance. We're starting with Odu Afrobeat Orchestra and Mega Faun (of N. Carolina) at the CAID (5141 Rosa Parks, just North of Warren) this Saturday, Sept 13th. Doors are at 9 pm and the cover is $5. One of the most original groups in Afrobeat, Odu has a special affinity for CAID, the site of one of the most memorable dance parties in the band's recent history. As ever, Ade Boye remains one of the few voices in Afrobeat that can escape the shadow of Fela Kuti- especially because he played with the undisputed progenitor of the sound.
Mega Faun play music that is experimental enough to catch the eye of iconic label Table of the Elements/Radium, but song-oriented enough that they appeal to people interested in psyche-folk and acoustic music. They also have a member who was insightful enough to release Nick Schillace's recent solo CD on the Burly Time label.
Tomorrow we will be announcing the location of next week's Henry Grimes/Faruq Z Bey show as well as the Cooper Moore show the following week. We'd love to see you all come and support The Bohemian in these trying times- make as many shows as you can!

but antoher post of the same board report that the owner of the building have joined up with a partner and will make some improvement to the Bo House like renovated The Building and not only that secured the parking lot.
