Rainer Maria Break Up


at about 5:18 PM Pitchforkmedia.com posted a Exclusive story on-line and i was the first local music blog to post this consering i saw this band four times as band when they came to detroit three time at the stick and once as a opener at St.ANdrew hall.

the member of the emo rock band Rainer Maria Singer/bassist Caithlin De Marrais, guitarist Kyle Fischer, and drummer William Kuehn issued the following statement:

"We are grateful to our new listeners and especially our longtime fans for their endless support and attention. We feel incredibly fortunate to have come up during a unique time in rock music, in a community that grew with us from the Midwest to Brooklyn and beyond. Making records has always been a revelation, and walking onto stage together we found a vision we could share.

"For us, this transition can be nothing short of heartbreaking. But for reasons both musical and personal, the three of us have chosen this time to move on."

Accroing to the report on pitchforkmedia.com they hav book there last two gigs in December 15 at Philadelphia's First Unitarian Church and December 16 at New York City's Bowery Ballroom and after that there no more.

They released Five albums in there life time, 1997 debut album Past Worn Searching there follow-up in 1999, "Look Now Look Again",--then 2001 "A Better Version of Me", 2003 amsome "Long Knives Drawn",on the Polyvinyl and this year "Catastrophe Keeps Us Together" which was released on Grunion label.

They released a live CD/DVD in 2004 called "Anyone in Love With You (Already Knows)"

there last gig in the Detroit area was in back in Auguest 17 at st. andrew Hall opening for the Format.
