A Note From the Editor of this blog sight

Hello, This is the Editor of the It Came From Culture City blog sight, Here

Now Before i begin about what is going on with this blog sight,

I want to say i am sorry for not posting any thing in the last three months and unlike the most famous I Sorry ever broadcast on Live Detroit TV, i really, really fell bad about not doing about doing the sight that i have been working on the last two years posting about indie culture other than "American Idols" [God i can't stand that show.]

So i decide to take the time to go to the Liberay near my house and post this message to let you what have happened to the site since my last past on Dec. 31, 2007 and prove that i am not dead.

But i am still alive.

Here What happened, back between the X-mas and New year of last year [2007] i was in the middle of posting the Culture City Festive 50 for 2007. i was typing and posting all the video for the countdown and all of a sudden my 2004 Norton Anti-Virest[yes, you hear me 2004 version ] keep popping up warning that it was detect something it keep pooping up over and over aging it was becoming a nuisance of the worst kind but the worst part i noted the on the system clock was all wrong.

For instant instead of today date April 4, 2008, would act like April 4, 2005, i try resetting it over and over time after time after time aging with nothing steam to work, so i got some online help and some told me it was a small nickle-side batter that control the clock on the motherboard is caseing the problem so i wait for about month, so a friend of mind did stop over my house and change the batter now i thought it was over.

the computer was working well, But the clock was still showing the incorrect date so i was lost yet aging, so i was lost aging, over the last two months my Sony Viao began to slow down and i thought my computer was sick and worst it go a lot of sypware, and this is where i am today not doing the blogsite because of spyware on a used Computer with not a good keyboard on a Cable Internet connection.

Now i would like to take it in to a computer shop for repair but they charge a arm and a leg to repair it and i was worried they would charge me of one thing and charge me for something else that i don't need repair.

i was thinking about calling the Geek Squad for at home service, but that charge a arm and a leg.
my older and nicer sister look at it, ask here IT [tech support]at work but it would charge a arm and a leg as well.

so i am total stuck, i am thinking of either wiping the hard drive and reinstalling XP or buying a new computer all together. but Before i do anything i am going to ask you who reader the site if you know anyone who is really good with computers, and willing to repair it for free [i hope] you can reach me at my blogsite address at

Culturecitynewstips[at]yahoo[dot]com

if you are willing to help fix a computer, i am willing to listen
now the help is for the window XP home edition

and i hope i do the site aging hopefully really soon etiher before may [which is the two years since the site] or before Summer. and i work aging on the site slowly.

thank you aging for you understanding
and once aging Sorry for this long laud on the sight.

We pick up the Countdown at No. 20

20.

Bjork

This year was the return of the Icelandic faveiort Daughter as she released her 1st album in about three years called "Volta", not only that she return to live preforming and not only that her live show was to believed as she play with a colorful backing choir a la, The Polyphonic Spree and she play her 1st Detroit show in 11 years at the Fabulous Fox theater back in September.

Album Released This Year:

19.

Sharn Jones and the Dapper Kings

Now this was a gem out of left filed this gifted soul singer back by here backing band came out of no where and became a indie crossover hit with there debut album 100 Days, 100 Nights not only that she brought the funk to here live show which she brought it to the stick late in the year, her album is fun to listen to.

Album Released This Year:
100 Days, 100 Nights [Daptone]

18.

Midnight Movies

this year the haunting band from southern California released there follow up to there self title album with Lions the girl, this time around front girl gena olivier step out of the the drum kit and gave a really cool sufrey second album, it was one of the most adventer album to listen to this year and proving indie rock is growing.

Album Released This Year:
Lion The Girl [New Line Records]

17.

The Ponys

I can't denied these long time friends of the Detroit music scene from Chicago[and on a personal note long time friends of mine] a spot on the festive 50, they sing to a major indie label and released on the best sounding garage rock album this year with "Turn the Lights Out" and not that they put on one hell of a live show proving the band out of Chicago is keeping what ever left of garage rock alive.

Video:"Double Vision" [Live] - From Pitchforkmedia.com
Album Released This Year:
Turn the Lights Out[Matador Records]

16.

Fields.

i heard about this band early in there year when they play there music on BBC and i fell in love with the supersonic sound and i listen to there 1st album on line and i would like this band this year not that they played a good show at the old Lager house and not only that they was also friendly as well, there 1st album is really good.

Video:If You Fail We All Fail
Album Released This Year:
Everything Last Winter[Atlantic]

15.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

The album Clear Channel did not whan to play only there classic station well it did not work they brought "Magic" anyway so who need crap channel, The boss is still the boss and if you listen to this record he still have the power to rock and roll, the album is one great rock album from "Radio Nowhere" to the last track "Devil's Arcade" this was one good album to pleased the boss band, and according to KO still have the power to rock.

Video:Radio Nowhere
Album Released This Year:
Magic [Columbia]

14.

Of Montreal

The members of the of The Elephant 6 Recording Company came out with a good concept album and was well received by the indie public may be all that buzz help because the band play there Detroit shows, there stage shows at the stick complex and they was one of the best live bands with there dramatic stage shows.

Video:Gronlandic Edit
Album Released This Year:
Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?[Polyvinyl]

13.

Bloc Party

O.K. i know most of Culture City don't like this band either as a hole or a live act or both, but i really like there second album "A Weekend in the City", it is a real good album not only that the song are great including "The Prayer" which is banging good tune, so if you did not listen to a "weekend in the city" give a album a good few good spin and you really like this.

Album Released This Year:
A Weekend in the City [Vice/Wichita]

12.

Great Northern

Now this is a great cool indie band that any body heard off but if you hear the album "Trading Twilight for Daylight" you was treated for a sonic adventer frather one of my fave song this year "Home", which is a wonderful song which is a great song and not only that they look very good playing live and not only that they sound so dreamy, one of my bands i would really like in the further.

Album Released This Year:
Trading Twilight for Daylight[Eenie Meeine Records]

11.

M.I.A.

After so much trouble getting in the country recording this really good album she back it up with the released of Kala that feat. the song "Boyz,", the disco flavor "Jimmy", and the wonderful song "Paper Planes" which is good to listen to even if MY don't like the gunshot in the song.

now when i saw the 1st video for there Debut album "We Can Create" called "You Won't Know Her Name" i knew this would like this band from Northampton there sound is some describe by James Chapman as a bit like The Stone Roses meets Spaceman 3, they sounded like Devo, they did not played many dates here in american, but there debut album mean that shoegazing is back, Just perfic for the return of "My Bloody Valentine" in 2008.

Video:You Don't Know Her Name

Album Released This Year:
We Can Create [Mute Records]

23.

Once - Soundtrack

Now i know i don't like movie soundtrack because there mostly recycle songs i heard before and a lot of songs that hear in a karyey bar so that mean sound track are banned of the full festive 50 unless it was something speical guess what we got our praeys.

it from one of the best film of the year, a musicial love story [and no i don't mean the overhype suage coated high school musicial] about two struggling musicians played by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová who fall in love and make music in working class Dublin, the sound track was a really gem of a sound track released this year.

oh if you want to know the DVD is out now for the film that gross over $14 million as of December and it was done over a Budget $160,000 U.S. now that was amazing.

New Porngraphs

this year was the return of the band that are all over canada fronted by A.C. Newman along with Neco Case, Kathryn Calder [Immaculate Machine] and John Collins of The Evaporators [Frontman is Nardward] released very great CD this year not a storng as there past album, but it is there trademark catch hooks and lyrcs, and there are still good live aldought they did not play a detroit show because they did not want to stuck in two hours traffic or worst the bus breaking down on 1-75.

Video:"Challengers"

Album Released This Year:
Challengers [Last Gang/Matador]
