ANGEL-A

(France/2006) directed by Luc Besson

Incompetent Parisian schemer and petty hood André (Jamel Debbouze) is at the end of his rope–irreversibly in debt to a local gangster, with no one to turn to, his only solution is to drown himself in the Seine. But when he finally jumps it’s to save Angela (Rie Rasmussen), a beautiful and mysterious stranger who’s taken the plunge ahead of him. As this unlikely duo form a bond, André begins to discover that not all debts are financial—and that sometimes hope is found in the unlikeliest of places. The new film from France’s Luc Besson (La Femme Nikita, The Fifth Element) is one of his most stylish and sweetly surprising: a love letter to both Paris and to the Hollywood traditions that inspired him. In French with English subtitles. (90 min.)

Playing Saturday at 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM and Sunday 4:00 and 7:00 PM

and this Weekend Films to celeabart the Monster Films as showen as the Ceather feather double feather that being at 2 P.M.

EARTH VS. THE FLYING SAUCERS

Legendary saucer effects by visual wizard Ray Harryhausen spice up this fast-moving tale of a fleet of desperate, soon-to-be-homeless aliens out to conquer the Earth and take up residence. Fortunately for our side, Earth is well represented by Dr. Russsel A. Marvin (sci-fi veteran Hugh Marlowe), a brilliant scientist who, together with his brand-new, beautiful scientist bride (Joan Taylor), is in no mood to give up his home planet without a fight. One of the most enjoyable sci-fi epics of its day was the blueprint for the countless invasion movies that followed, from Independence Day to Mars Attacks! (which quite intentionally “borrowed” this movie’s saucer design).

MOTHRA

The original Japanese classic Mothra (1961, directed by Ishiro Honda), the story of a gigantic, havoc-wreaking moth, and the foot-tall twin fairies (sisters Yumi and Emi Ito) who control him telepathically while singing.

Cluture City Exclusive

Greg Base no longer book er at the Magic Stick

No this is big news, big time

i got the story last night from a couple of good moles, one of them i did not trush at 1st but i talk to a couple of other mole backing up the 1st mole

but this is big.

My mid-town bus rat mole are telling me that long time Booker at the magic stick Greg Base have left, according to my moles that he put in his two-weeks notice on Tuesday[for tho used who don't understand business, A Two-weeks noticed is common in the work place to notify your employer that you are leaving your job for a brand new job elsewhere], but instead of finish out the two weeks, according to my moles that on Wednesday Management at the magic Stick did not let him in the building after they got his two week notice.

Now before you jump to wild conclusion, let me point out two things: one Greg Base have been there for a long time, so i was time to feel in his mind to move on and goes something elsewhere [Which i get to in just a moment]

and two don't forget this is the concert business so if somebody leave one place for new place and some time the don't what you to hang around with two weeks left.

as for Greg further now that he is no longer at the stick in back grounding this story, a 4th source i myspacer today told me that he have a new job at a new club in of all places Pontiac, My Sourced did not give me any detail.

And as of this typing i don't know who is now booking shows at the stick.

If you want to add any info on this story you can leave them on the comment page of E-Mail this blog sight at Culturecitynewstips[at]yahoo[dot]com.

City: Tucson, AZ

Bands: Jana Hunter and Castanets

the report:
[As Reported by pitchforkmedia.com and on both Jana Hunter and Castanet web sight}

So, the story is, last night we played in Tucson at solar culture. afterward, we loaded our stuff up, went downtown, had a drink, and went to a house to crash on the floor. en route, we damaged a door, making it such that the door won't close and such that eventually, before we return the vehicle to the rental company, we'll have to pay on the order of 2 grand to replace the door.

seeing as how we had an unsecured vehicle, ray (castanets) slept in the van. sometime during the night, some brave fuck(s) very quietly opened the back door and took what they could carry. we assume their were more than one of them given all the shit they managed to walk away with. we're gathering what serial numbers we can, but in the meantime, here's a rudimentary list:

JH gear-
fender classical guitar (ser.#9505151116)
new boss 20xl loopstation
boss reverb/delay pedal
original digitech whammy pedal
original b k butler tubedriver overdrive pedal
peavey 6 mixer (ser.#k0344300)
shure beta 98/s
custom flashlight circuit-bended thing

Castanets gear-
late 60's blue fender music master guitar
line 6 delay pedal
boss tremolo
mutron volume/wah pedal
boss tuner pedal
digitech metal master
ebow
slides/cables

If you have any info pleased contact the Tuscon police, also they have put up a They've set up an e-mail address at mutualincarnation@gmail.com at which they'll gladly accept Paypal donations to help them replace their gear.

and for all you Detroit readers Jana Hunther will here at the magic Stick opening up for raputina on July 7th.
